What are your thoughts on the new Xpeng

Some players in this community are really mad to see that the addition of a Chinese car to a game has risen to such a frustrating and disturbing level, it’s just a game, it’s just a normal update of a car, why do people have to show such madness?

Forza Horizon treats all the people equally, and they are doing well, such as the disabled, hearing impaired and LGBTQ, etc. Shouldn’t vehicle updates for each country be part of that inclusion? Are Chinese players not entitled to play with Chinese vehicles in Horizon? Should Chinese players be held responsible for the Chinese government doing something you don’t agree with in your opinion?

I’m player frome China, this really scared me, and really frustrating for me.

Come on, it’s just a game.

I agree its just a game, but to get back on topic car looks really cool and its something different.

Taking politics out of the equation, I’m just not a fan of the types of cars the developers have added from your country. I’m anti-EV in general regardless of country of origin, and I’m also “anti-daily driver in Forza”, and that is all that has been added from China so far. To give credit where credit is due, I’ll say that the Lynk and Co should’ve been added way before any of these other vehicles, as at least its a hybrid, a super saloon, and a WTCC competitor. In fact, if it weren’t so overdesigned (and likely too heavy), this probably would’ve been the only new car in the next update that would interest me in the slightest, because Lord knows the Audi roster has been brought up date enough already. We didn’t need the e-Tron (a reskinned Taycan) and another Sportback (Sorry, most modern Audis just blend together for me).

Personally, I hope we one day get that awesome Chinese supervillain land yacht. I can’t recall the name of it, but it’s the luxury-diplomat kind of car with the wicked transparent red hood ornament.

It’s Hongqi L5, but the fact is that that car is really politically relevant and has absolutely no chance of making it into the game, even though I want it badly.

This genuinely reads like “The Chinese government has told us that if we allow people to continue to criticize China, we will no longer be allowed to sell our game in China.” I sincerely hope that’s not what you’re going for here.

I think the car itself is interesting. There’s now as many lower level EVs in the game as there are they really high tier ones that appear to be pushed to promote a ‘green’ message (despite EVs being worse for the environment). The car plays well, drives solidly, turns extremely well… to the point where I believe that the default is overtuned versus like stated cars in the game. It handles TOO well, unrealistically so. It has a higher top speed and better handling than other cars ‘in its class’. Perhaps user tunes can squeeze more out of the cars, but I am only judging by the default numbers in the game, the base settings that the developers of Forza themselves did.

It is somewhat difficult not to bring politics into this, as this game in particular has had plenty of political influence in it by the devs. Politics ARE relevant to the discussion of this game, and this car in particular. Political content has been pushed into the games both in the ways of unique liveries and promotional choices, such as the afore-mentioned ‘green’ hard EV push this game in particular has. And while this is not an appropriate place to discuss the political quagmire of China and their government, one aspect of it is inescapable. And that is their extremely heavy-handed approach to censorship. It can lead people to believe, even if erroneously, that the car was added to the game - and in such an ‘overtuned’ fashion, as a means of appeasing the government in order to not see the game potentially lose a massive potential income block. There are people who will give push back to this because of other abuses that that government engages in, and see the developers of this game as going along with such abuses in attempts to ‘appease’ the government with inclusions such as this car.

For most of us, it’s just another car in the game. And there’s certainly no reason NOT to include as many cars as possible. That’s the point. We WANT more cars. Bring them on. However, the actions shown on this forum, and by T10ManteoMax in particular, including a warning of upcoming ‘code of content’ behavior rules enforcement, only serve to validify the political complaints some people have in the game. This is NOT being handled well. There may not be a way to handle it well, but over censorship in response to worries of over censorship is only giving the people who believe that the developers are kowtowing to the worst of a problematic government validation of their view point.

These thoughts are on-topic for the inclusion of this car in this game. I am not being hostile to any one side here, I am merely attempting to give warning about what is happening. I am simply pointing out in a civil manner what I’m seeing both in game and here.

I have very strong opinions on what the mods have said in this thread, but I’ll keep it zipped.

As for the Xpeng, it’s fine; Not great, not awful. It looks like they copied the Lucid Air styling verbatim.

As for performance, how is anyone increasing the speed? Mine is firmly stuck at 4.1 speed with a top speed of 119.2 MPH…

You can adjust the “gearbox”. Longer final drive and top speed will increase. It does nearly 200 mph stock.

Ah, that makes sense. I’ve never learned how to tune; maybe I should find a guide and try to learn.

Amen…its being handled poorly

…honestly, kinda boring and every time I drive it I want to kick Elon Tusk in his jims for not licensing his stuff any more.

Good riddance. Those cars suck too.

I personally like the look, but not the performance of the car, it is just to slow, you can adjust it by losing acceleration - so either you have good accelaration or a decent top speed. But there are many cars that can do it better in its class - as long as you don’t need to drive an EV.

It comes with only a minium of tuning potential and there are many many cars, that have a position prior to that car on my wishlist (roundabout 1000 cars to be precise).

I don’t know if this specific cars do play a role in the future car history of the world or is it just some kind of “Daewoo” stuff, where a brand exists only a few years and then disappear for good (or bad).

But it is of course a matter of licences - and think personally it is easier for T10 to get their hands on a new brand out of a country, that is under represented in the racing game world. Perhaps they even could get money for putting the car in this game but that is of course just not even an educated guess by me.

To make it short - the car looks got, performs bad (for my style of driving), has just not enough tuning parts and there are about a 1000 cars, I would have prefered over this one…

But I am not the middle of the earth (only for my old cat), so that’s what it is.

It’s a capable drifter. I didn’t even bother racing it because it is one of those cars that doesn’t look good for that. But I might throw it at dirt at some point.

I’m not sure how drivataras will react to this but i wouldn’t suggest it for online racing because it is really uncompetitive, especially in sprints.
The Lynk & Co one seems to be more interesting.
