Is this possible? Prefer that to Barbie, personally, though I’m not against Barbie. I do hate pink cars though. And pink houses. I’m told pink is a good colour for me, so am happy with pink shirts. Anyway, where was I?
Oh yeah, Wacky Races; anybody else up to be Penelope Pitstop or Peter Perfect?
Not bad, didn’t they drive a Meyers Manx or something? Bit old, even for me!
Ah, yes, that’s the one - those were in Space 1999? Didn’t remember that. I do remember thinking, even as a child, that they did seem to have an endless supply of Eagles.
again, yes, now you mention it, I remember seeing that at some point; these things are a little older than me but got shown on telly when I was young, remember seeing that, too - need to look at Space 1999 for the whatsitcalled, though
ah, right, that’s ringing a bell now
one funny thing about these '60s/'70s sci-fi series is the use of the same props in multiple programmes; Star Trek, Space: 1999, Blake’s Seven, Doctor Who - don’t think one of those buggies got used elsewhere though!
seems odd but it did happen, saw a programme about it a while back, there were some surprising crossovers including use of older stuff from Star Trek; some of them were probably just where they were filmed, so a given studio was used by both BBC and ITV but retained props - interesting programme, no idea what it was called, but it showed some stuff they’d got from the RAF (bits of under-wing missile launchers), all interesting stuff
also covered stuff like the space station from 2001, which ended up getting overgrown in a large back garden somewhere, and a prototype monolith from same that is up on the side of a building somewhere in London - it was transparent but Kubrick wasn’t satisfied with how it looked
ha - at least it’s an improvement on the Mustang thread!
