Best version to add is definitely slightly forgotten G40. Yes, VW’s G family had 4 different members (Polo, Golf, Corrado, Passat). Why do I want G40? It’s because of it’s G-Ladder supercharger mounted on 1.3 Inline 4 engine.
Why G40? Supercharger had 40 mm diameter. It was that simple.
Combination of relatively small engine with forced induction created a modest 113 PS figure. It definitely doesn’t sound like much, but thanks to G40’s light weight (just 720 kg) this small warm hatch could reach the 100 kph speed in just 8.6 seconds.
