The GTI acronym was used in the sport version, with the “GTU” standing for “Gran Turismo Injection”. Used a multipoint electronic injection, which was an innovation for the time.

This looks like a Ford Fiesta mk3 with VW Golf mk4 front end, but Ford Escort front indicators.
