Ford had their Sierra, and Vauxhall was rivalling it with Cavalier.
They were main competitors in the segment of British middle class cars. Both brands wanted to get the edge on the other. They were chasing their rival in making better version of this car.
So, in 1993, 4x4 Turbo was added to the Cavalier’s lineup to compete with Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth (which was introduced in 1990). It was powered by legendary C20LET engine shared with Calibra.
Despite all the Vauxhall attempts, Ford became far more iconic due to its rally use, higher power, and faster.
