vAcesWild's FM5 Auto Exotica (THE MIDDLE | 5/08/15)

Hi everybody and welcome to my Forzatography thread for Forza Motorsport 5!

Let me introduce myself: my name is Sean, but I go by the Gamertag of vAcesWild. I’m 18 years old and love cars, rugby and music, but not necessarily in that order. I don’t get nearly enough time to play due to work, school, family and sport, but I try to fit an hour or two in once or twice a week. I started playing Forza in 2010, with Forza Motorsport 4, but Forza Horizon was the first Forza game I owned. I bought an Xbox One in September for Horizon 2, and I bought Forza Motorsport 5: Game of the Year edition at a Black Friday sale a few months back. My interest in Forzatography is primarily because I’m an average racer, I don’t tune, and my paints are simplistic at best. This thread will be updated intermittently, as I predominantly play Horizon 2. I strive to improve my photography, so I appreciate any and all feedback people can give me.

Cheers,
Ace

BEGINNINGS

I’ve now had my fill of Halo and I just haven’t been in the mood for Horizon 2, so FM5 has been in the disk drive for the past week or so. If I’m completely honest, I don’t particularly like the Motorsport series that much. I’m an average racer, I don’t tune, and my paints are pretty simplistic. I prefer photography, and I always find that the nature of the Motorsport series (solely track-based racing, as opposed to open-world racing in Horizon) means that I don’t tend to enjoy taking pictures in Motorsport. However, one of my several New Year’s resolutions is to try to improve my photography, especially in the Motorsport series. I haven’t progressed very far in career mode: I’m in my third series (Super Mini with a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST) but I have taken a look at the numerous Forzatography threads and have some good inspiration. Let me know what you think:

Nice to see your gallery in the FM5 section! I feel less lonely. lol

I really like 1M shot. I think is very nicely set.

I also like the 2nd 458 shot, imo it would of look better with shutter speed.

keep it up!

Thanks Morc! I took the 1M shot by chance: I was messing around with the view in cockpit mode when I caught a reflection out a window. As for the 2nd 458 Italia photo: I wasn’t too fond of it when I took the pic because I couldn’t seem to get the contrast right but it’s growing on me.

I’ve also updated the first set: I replaced a 1M shot with one from the Toyota Celica and added in some Forzavista pics of the 458 Italia.

Cheers,
Ace

So you’re doing FM5 also?
Nice shots Ace, I like the 3rd one! Good composition and depth.
Looking forward to see more of FM5.
Currently I’m also tending to play more FM5 now, I’m feeling a bit saturated on the FH2 setting.

EXCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE

Hi everyone,

I hadn’t intended to post another update so soon after the first but I might be taking a few personal days soon. I’d hate to waste good pictures by sitting on them for long periods of time so I figured it was best to update now. This new update focuses on one of the most regal vehicles ever in Forza: the 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith. I downloaded it and intended to test-drive it around Yas Marina, but I had to take a look at it in Forzavista first. I never made it to the track - photomode took over. I do have to confess my disappointment that we can’t explore the vehicles more freely. For example, some of the shots, such as the “skylights” were taken with full zoom (2.0) and as close to the car as I could, and yet it still looks fairly zoomed-out. Oh well - I guess we can’t get everything. On a sidenote, does anybody know any glitches or ways around the zoom issue in Forzavista? I’d appreciate it.

@Guguhype: When I took the shot, I felt it was a bit underdeveloped for my tastes, but after a little bit I like the shot more. It just feels right.

Cheers,

Ace

I know a glitch. When the door is opened go in the corner of the door and the body. Just continue to push in by a few directions and you should slowly go through the body and into the car. Doesn’t always work though.

Nice set by the way. ; )

Love the shot of the Rolls Royce engine and this -

BABY GOT (SPORT)BACK

Hi everyone,

Just a quick little update today showcasing the 2013 Audi RS7 Sportback. Before I go on any further, I’d just like to take a minute and apologize for the horrible title. The creative juices in my brain decided to stop flowing just before posting. I’m cringing just as much as you are, but this was the wittiest title I could come up with. With that said, on to the update.

I think it’s a pretty good vehicle: it handles well enough, there’s enough power and torque and the looks are excellent. I do wish I had changed the colour to something a little bit more livelier and photogenic but oh well, hindsight is 20/20. Anyways, I’ve recently rekindled my love for Horizon 2, so that’s been in the drive for a few days. This update may be the last Forza 5 one you will see for a little while, but who knows - I could be back on tomorrow.

You are apologized for your funky title! lol

I like the 2nd shot most. I think you are well controlling the aperture in your sets lately.

Good job and hopefully, you’ll be back tomorrow. lol

Aha thanks Morc. I’m glad somebody has forgiven me. I hope the shots redeemed my poor title. I have found that I struggle with photography in the Motorsport series due to the constraints of the track, hence why I spend more time typically on Horizon 2. However, I’ve found that I’m more inspired on FM5 than on FM4, despite FM4 being the better overall game in my opinion. As a result of my week spent on Motorsport 5, I found taking shots on Horizon 2 a bit of a challenge at first. Oh well - I have adapted again.

Cheers,
Ace

Two great sets Ace
On the Wraith set I like the engine shot and the last one most. Black and white really suits this car.
On the RS7 I agree with Morc, great shot against the sun and use of the aperture.

Cheers
Guguhype

Thanks Guguhype for the comment. I agree that the Rolls-Royce suits black-and-white photos. As for the RS7 shot, I was thinking about making it black and white but couldn’t get past the sepia style.

Cheers,
Ace

SUPER SUBIE

Hi everyone,

This set focuses on the original Impreza, the 1998 Impreza 22b STi. Personally, it’s one of my favorite Subaru’s, but it’s been a bit of a challenge for me. When I race, I use the transmission that the car has in real life, in this case manual with clutch, and normally I have no problems on starts. However, it feels like no matter how high I rev the engine, or how slowly I let out the clutch, I’m just not happy with it. It sputters and struggles off the line when I use it. It’s probably just me but I think that letting out the clutch smoothly on a controller is very difficult, and it seems that the 22b requires that to launch smoothly. Anyways, all complaints aside, I love the vehicle. It handles well, has good power, can slide around a bit and is enjoyable to drive.

Nice! I have one in A class, that beats exotics without trying much.

FORZA FUEL FUN

Hi everybody,

I had a bit of time on FM5 this week and I tried my hand at “Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car” on the Top Gear Test Track. I managed to set a time of 1:28:737 in the Vauxhall Astra Top Gear edition. I had a lot of fun doing the Stig’s Digital Cousin challenge, so I did some hot-laps in the Forza Fuel 2015 Ford Mustang. I like the car - it’s responsive on the throttle, it handles well and its fast. Anyways, here’s some pics of my time with the Mustang:

Anyways, let me know if you can beat my time of 1:28:737 in a Vauxhall Astra Top Gear edition. I’d be interested in making this a contest in between postings. Any and all feedback is welcome too,

Cheers,
Ace

Recent stuff is great Ace! I really like the shots of the Subaru

Thanks Nights. I think photos 6 and 7 are my favorites from the Subaru set. Any thoughts on the Mustang set?

PAGANI PERFECTION

Hi everybody,

It’s been a few weeks since I updated this thread. I was watching Chris Harris reviews and I stumbled upon this one: the Pagani Huayra. I was so inspired by his review that I wanted to go to Italy and test-drive one. Then, after I looked at my bank balance and realized that wasn’t feasible, I went and bought one on FM5 instead. I’m very happy with how this set turned out, and I hope you guys are too:

Before I wrap this up, I should make a brief note that I now have more time on my hands due to graduating school. I plan on updating this gallery every Tuesday from now until the March Break. I will be coaching my high school’s rugby team after then so the updates may become more sporadic after then, but that’s a problem for later.

Cheers,
Ace
