Upgrades vs Tuning, is there a ....?

Is there a website that might explain in easy to understand terms
the use of both the upgrade and tuning features?

Or if you have basic tips that would also be helpful.

I find myself adding upgrades to cars without really knowing if that’s the best option.

I’m not to sure about the tuning features either.

I do not ‘race’ online.
Just looking for tips to make this even more enjoyable.

Thanks…

What cars you want to tune? Im new to this game but I can tell what works for my cars.

I drive C600 Trans Am GTA 1987 and A800 Viper ACR 1999

Trans Am. I leave stock engine. Than I put Racing centro something super charger. It’s that other one than turbo and super charger. I dont change cam since it raise HP a lot and HP raise your class points faster. I keep that engine torquey. Also putting additional stifness is Good. The car is more controllable under braking and better in corners. Gearbox upgrade is also a must. With that ammount of torque tall gearing is bless. Tires the wider the better. Tire compound will put you in other class so I dont use it. Brakes use always the best. Dont look only on stopping distance. Feel is more important. Car can’t be twitchy when braking and steering. Braking into apex is important.

My advice is to build one preset for power and another one for corners. A lot of races are more speed depending.

Another advice is to give up on the best car chase. Choose what you like. This game is quite easy even on the unbeatable drivatars. I also prefer cars from D to B class. Theyre more fun.

Same as I put in other similar post sometime back.

Yeah, if you want to be competitive online, AWD is pretty much a must. Sad to say, but it is.

If you are just wanting to use RWD for the campaign races against the AI, you can beat them with rear wheel cars. It’s a bit tougher, but nowhere near impossible.

I’m no expert, nor do I claim to be by any means, but there are few things you can do besides converting to AWD.

– The easiest way to get more grip is to add tire compound. While this will give you grip, it also raises your PI a lot, so you can’t add as much power.

– Along with tire upgrades, or instead of tire upgrades, you can make the rear tires wider for more grip. This does help, but not as much as the compound change does. And the more power to weight you have, your are going to break the rears loose anyway.

– You’re most effective way to minimize wheel spin is in the tuning: The tire air pressure, gear ratios, spring stiffness/softness, ride height, damping rebound/bump stiffness/softness and diff accel all play a part in how the power gets put to the ground. There are tons of guides and how to’s all over these forums, and on the internet in general to help and try to explain what everything means. You are just going to have to jump in somewhere and see what works for you.

– The most important in my opinion, is Throttle Control. You can’t just floor it on launch (unless you tune the car do so), or out of a tight turn (again tune), you have to feel the car out. Feather the throttle and learn how the car responds.

I know this wasn’t really an answer, but it’s a loaded question that could possibly bring about all kinds of arguments over the subject so I went with a general statement that is pretty universal.

You can add me to your friend’s list on Xbox and we can work on something together if you want.

Also as for the builds, my preference is to try and even out the HP and Torque, by that I mean I like to add as much cam as I can fit to get them closer together or even more HP. Again that is my preference, I like the revs plus it helps in the top end, you can keep the gear longer and it could help out with the wheel spin in RWD cars.

As mentioned, hit me up if you want to bounce ideas. Does go for anybody, like I say, I’m no expert, but I know what I like and could possibly help out.

Good luck.

CFunk2001, Thank you.

This was/is what I was kind of looking for. Basic’s, a place to ‘jump in’

I do not race ‘online’ with others. I really enjoy this game for what it is.
And was/am looking for just a few tips to better enjoy it.

It seems that my ‘older’ brain runs into things I just don’t get.
I add a tire compound to a car and the Class rating goes up by a certain number,
I go and add that same tire compound to a different car and it does not increase the class number the same.

I go to add certain ‘tuning aspect’ to a car,
only to find that, for some reason, that it’s locked or part of it is locked.
again I don’t get it.

I went and ‘loaded’ a tune that I had to use CR on. Not a big deal I thought.
I then went and tried to look at what the tune numbers were… Nope. Locked…

Trust me, I seem to learn something ‘new’ most every time I play this game
and I guess that’s not a bad thing.

The other night, I was playing around in the rivals tab, running laps.
I took on the next rival and it was blowing smoke… wth was this I thought…
a quick google search and what do ya know, a car pack with smoke blowing cars…

I’ve done a google search for ‘tuning’ and Wow…

Anyway, Thanks again…

You need to buy top parts to tune them. For example first gearbox upgrade Will allow you to edit final Gear ratio. Second gearbox upgrade Will allow you to edit all gears. You need racing suspension to bo able to t
