The thing is that I don’t even see the upcoming video tomorrow. I see update 2 and 8 but not update 9.
We’ll see. Maybe tomorrow?
Either way the showcase was pretty good! I’m looking forward to COD?!? I am not an FPS fan at all, but that looks worth trying.
As for FM23’s update 9, whenever they drop the deets I am fine. I’m off all week.
Well, this was their biggest chance to make a huge comeback but i guess they just don’t care themselves too.
Only adding new mustang or the new 911rs plus few racing cars and like 2 tracks would help this game like a loooot. I guess we all should just move on and leave this franchise for good they don’t care themselves man. This is just sad.
There will be other opportunities. This show was too big for Forza. Even Forza Horizon was nowhere to be found. Fable looks better, but we cannot judge before it’s in our hands.
Maybe Tomorrow
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 got a trailer spot. So did Starfield and Diablo 4. And Assassin’s Creed and Metal Gear Solid also got slots. That’s to say nothing about the several games that are most assuredly smaller than Forza, like that RPG with the mice and Mixtape.
The problem is Forza. Plain and simple. At least Horizon has the excuse of Playground being occupied with Fable. Turn 10 has no such shield.
New game = Higher priority in a “Games Showcase”.
Why trot out a game that even you are writing off? Show the new titles, even a gaming media journo appeaser like Mixtape. Only bring out a 5/10 if you (the company) has no games to talk about.
All things Forza can wait!
People have been writing off Starfield, as well, for months. Didn’t stop them from showing up, though.
What’s Turn 10’s excuse? More to the point, why do people keep making excuses for them?
And does Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon have an expansion as big as Shattered Space?
That’s a deflection. Forza Motorsport is…or rather, was one of the brand’s flagships. No-showing a major event like Summer Game Fest would be cause for concern for most other flagships.
Given how gung-ho Microsoft has been to shutter studios lately, you’d think T10 would want to conjure something worth marketing as an act of self-preservation, even if it was a bunch of aspirational renders from things they plan to drip feed over the next few months.
THAAAAAAAT. Hammer, meet nail, bears repeating, use whatever meme you prefer. When you’re dealing with a parent company who shuts down several of your colleagues one day before telling members of the remaining studios that they want to see more games like that which one of the shuttered studios had just produced, you really need to do whatever is necessary to justify your continued survival.
They had nothing newsworthy. Why on earth would you expect it to be at a summer games showcase… Basically E3? You honestly expect update 9 to be worth showing at what’s left of E3? That’s a laugh.
In fairness, we were discussing the next quarter, so like updates 9-12. One would expect at least two tracks and up to a dozen cars over that period, perhaps some noteworthy game features… more than enough for a decent 60s trailer. Even if those assets weren’t fully ready, you would only need to fake glimpses of them.
I mean, if Playground didn’t want the focus to be on Fable, do you not think they couldn’t turn solely the Retrowave season with its 5 new cars, new music, and world changes into fun clip for Microsoft’s trailer parade?
If T10 wants FM23 to be their job security into the next console generation, they’ll need to keep attracting new players. Missing out on a free chance to be placed in front of millions of Xbox gamers sure feels like a miss for them.
Because they are a flagship property of XBox. Again, Playground at least has Fable as an excuse; in the past, they’ve shown off expansions for Horizon games as well as new entries in the series. Turn 10, at a moment where they needed to convince people not to give up on them, chose not to show up for an event where they could have gotten that message out to the most people.
You want them to fake a presentation. That went over well the last time.
That’s literally how every promotional trailer gets produced.
Again… its a new game. They didn’t parade anything Forza out there, but no one is saying anything about the Horizon side of the studio. Are they soon to be canned cause they didn’t sieze the opportunity to show DLC? Horizon is Xbox’s top billed racer now. And with notable talent leaving the studio, FH is doomed right? They didn’t have anything horizon to show. What ever will they do?
LOL.
Have fun with that.
Playground is showing off Fable. Did you miss that? They can be excused for not showing off anything Forza related, for now. I wasn’t expecting a Horizon 6 announcement yet anyway.
Turn 10 has no such buffer. They need to be making moves. Big moves, major moves, and they needed to be making those moves three months ago. They are not. They have shown zero indication that they are going to make anything close to those moves. It’s Forza Horizon 5’s first year all over again, except Motorsport does not have the playerbase, sponsorship deals, or even backing to come close to where Playground Games found themselves prior to shedding the dead weight that was Mike Brown. Turn 10 needs to do drastic things to convince people across the board that they are worth the investment. No-showing a major company showcase is not an ideal way to achieve that goal.
