Couldn’t agree more. The German cars… well, there isn’t many actually usable newer cars to any class below A or S, depending on brand. In my opinion some of these cars don’t really fit to any class. No room for upgrades, too much power for lower class, too little grip for the next one.

Audi’s only non-S/RS cars are R8s and an old Sport Quattro if I remember correctly. Where’s all the normal Audis like A3/A4/A5/TT?

BMW’s newest non-M 3-series is a 25 years old 323i. 5-series? No, there isn’t a single normal 5-series car. In older GT the 330i was an absolute blast to drive. 320i was good too.

The newest non-AMG Mercedes road car is from 1990. It’s 35 years old.

At least VW has some modern C class cars but even there the newest non-R car is from 1998.

Opel has a rich history of sporty coupes and some roadsters (including Tigra A and B, Calibra, Manta A and B, Speedster, etc.) which would also fit perfectly to lower classes but Opel’s only (and newest) car in the game is a Kadett from 1979. It seems a pretty good car though but I think Opel deserves way more cars than 1.

Base model Porsche 911, the actual Carrera? Not available.

Don’t get me wrong, I like also older cars, but honestly, these line-ups seriously need some non-RSSMAMGR variety. And Opels. Lots of Opels.

Then there’s the French cars. Some nice hot hatches but… zero sedans / saloons. Alpine aside there’s no sports cars or coupes either. Popular French coupe-cabriolet models: zero. I’ve wrote about CCs before (and will probably write about them again) because they are so often overlooked, probably because the ā€œsports modelā€ is typically a hatchback. In GT series the 307 CC was a fantastic car to drive around Nurburgring. Both the 206 & 307 CCs were faster than their hatchback counterparts. Considering this and how good Megane II hatch is in FM, the Megane CC would probably be even better.

Came across my mind out of nowhere the other day, the hilarity of just seeing a full grid spec series with the Macaron would be.

The thing about those coupĆ©-cabriolets is that they’re a lot heavier. There’s the added weight you have from being cabriolet, to reinforce the chassis when you don’t have a solid roof, and then there’s the added weight of the mechanism to get the roof on and off.

Peugeot replaced its two-times WRC winning car based on the 206 with a car based on the 307CC. One of the reason was that it was longer (for the 206 that had to add extra fat bumpers to meet minimum length requirements), that other was that, you know, they wanted to sell it. Or perhaps it was a nice gesture of Peugeot Sport to get out of the way of Citroƫn.

Yes, they are heavier but on those cars majority of the extra weight goes to rear making it a more balanced car. My experience from GT is that without using ballast CCs just are much better on high speed cornering.

I also tried replicating it using ballast on 307 hatch but it just never was as good as the open top one, and when ballasted it was the same weight. I don’t know how well GT6 for example took body flex into account but something like that in theory could explain the difference when everything else was pretty much the same.

Brother, I wish. But knowing the devs, they’ll probably just add some car that no-one cares about and call it a day

A couple of things they should have did with ā€œbuilt not boughtā€ or ā€œlevel, build, dominateā€ was, have the levels you earn with a particular car become direct discounts for parts for that car, and 5 cars leveled to 50, would apply the discount across all cars from that manufacturer.

Also, you should have been able to save and load builds of a single car, including paint jobs on that build. That would have given more of a feeling of ownership and uniqueness over any car you’ve spent the time leveling.

Cars with the most use, would instantly become favorites, and shown in the homespace unless you selected something different to place there.

To me, they could have made ā€œbuilt not boughtā€ work, but they just needed to think outside the box a little more.

That means no surprise factor

Or think at all a little more.
ā€œBuilt not boughtā€ never had any substance or vision behind it.
It was just an empty catchphrase to try to paint a pretty face on an ugly grind for Car Points.
It didn’t change anything whatsoever about how players build/upgrade their cars.
It only injected a time-consuming barrier into the same old car-building approach - perhaps as an attempt to artificially increase ā€œeNgAgEmEnTā€ metrics (which backfired quickly & severely).

FOMO appears with long red bar and uptempo orchestral war drums

This game is an engagement pit. Car points and FOMO made that very clear. For whatever reason they refuse to let go of FOMO.

Having players do championships at their own pace has no negative effect that I can see. If I hear anything bragging about being proud of weekly metrics then I’ll understand. I think that’s what they’re measuring and making decisions off of? Maybe the existing tours would take up too much space? We’re 20 updates in so that’s a lot of space, it’s one of the two.

There has to be a workaround with the space issue
I’m sure.

Best compromise with FOMO is to make the cars time-gated so players can get early access through completing challenges then after 3 months or so they appear in the showroom to purchase for everyone.

And/or maybe make exclusive cars cost a lot more in-game credits in the showroom compared to non-exclusive cars.

If the timing works out for players who can unlock an exclusive car during its window of availability, they can acquire it just for completing its associated events/challenges.
Everyone else can acquire it after its window of availability by breaking the bank. :money_bag:

This would give the company the increased ā€œengagementā€ it seems to want since players who miss a car’s window of availability would still have to put considerable time into the game to accumulate enough credits to buy higher-priced exclusive cars.

…and it would ā€œprovide players with a sense of pride & accomplishment.ā€ :winking_face_with_tongue:

I like that Rush hour Chris Tucker reference lol but I agree. I said that a long time ago, if you complete said races each week for the reward car you get it for free. Then after the month period is over they should drop it into the showroom for purchase with credits so it can still be obtained by players who missed out, not gone forever like they have it now. Thats crazy

Agreed. I already wrote about this in specialty dealer suggestion.
