I know there’s a few threads out here already, but I don’t see one specifically addressing the issue I’m having. As an aside, FH3 has the EXACT same problem and sequence of events leading up to it. I shelved that 6 months ago when I got sick of screwing with it. However, I just dropped $100 on FH4, so I really expect this to be resolved before launch.
Forza 6 and Forza 7 both launch without issue, as do the other 20+ games installed on my machine (via Steam).
See below for details, I can send more info if needed.

This is the kind of quality I expect from indie “preview” games on Steam, not big name development studios. I guess I should have learned my lesson with FH3.
Come on guys. We’re 4 days away from when we’re supposed to be able to play the Ultimate edition, and I can’t even launch the demo. Seems like a colossal waste of $100 at this point. I’ve emailed as well as describing the problem in great detail here, so I’m not sure why I can’t at least get a “we’re looking into it”.
Hey, I was having the same issue you seem to be having but just fixed it by uninstalling the demo from my secondary SSD and installing it on my primary/OS SSD, here’s a reddit thread I’ve created with more info:
In addition, I disabled Nvidia Ansel, killed Steam, and uninstalled my Antivirus, all to no avail.
While I appreciate all the feedback from other players, it’s ridiculous that the only “solutions” provided so far are insane workarounds and conjecture. I haven’t seen a single word on my thread from anyone even remotely related to Turn 10.
The game launches in 5 hours and I can’t even try the damn demo? Forza Horizon 3 has been broken for over 6 months, so I’m not holding out much hope at this point. It would appear I threw $100 away, since MS won’t give me a refund. Believe me, I tried.
I’ll take a look, but there’s absolutely no way I can run the full game from my OS drive. I’m hovering around 40GB of free space at any given time. I’d be looking at close to $200 to upgrade to the next size up, based on what I have now.
Come on, seriously? Now the full game is out and won’t launch either. I’ve even tried on a completely fresh install of Windows on a DIFFERENT computer. This is insane.
The demo worked fine for me. But the full game (also suddenly FH3 and FM7) stopped working, all with the same error, 2 seconds splash screen and then crash.
Tried all the suggested possible solutions but to no avail
I had to completely stop ALL processes related to Trend Micro. Antivirus, scanners, password manager, and everything else related to them. This is completely unacceptable, but at least I can get it to run.
