Two things I'm confused about ....

Forza 5 seems to be very much geared towards allowing you to do what you want when you want. I like the freedom offered by this approach but there are two things I’m curious about. Is there any easy way to cross reference which cars you already own when buying a new car. There’s a lot of them to work through and I can see that as I build up my collection I could easily waste in-game money buying a few I already own.

Also, what is the difference between playing the leagues through career mode and playing them through League mode?

There isn’t currently any indicator when buying cars to tell you which ones you already own. When you are looking at your own cars they all have a little house icon. That is what is supposed to show when buying cars, but apparently the dev who added that bit of code was drunk at the time and added it to the wrong place. j/k he/she was probably just tired from working insane hours to meet microsoft’s outrageous new launch date.

Microsoft didn’t really determine the FM5 release date. FM5 was due to release in 2013 because that lines up with Turn 10’s development cycle. FM2 released in 2007, FM3 in 2009, FM4 in 2011, and now FM5 in 2013. We should look for FM6 in 2015.

Drag and Tag which were obviously intended to be part of the game from launch (the badges were there for those modes), were not included until the next patch and were full of issues. The game in general is full of bugs. Simple things that even the most cursory testing should have caught. If MS didn’t rush T10 to make the launch date, then they have no legitimate excuse for it appearing to be so incredibly rushed. I’m just going to assume that they were all drunk then.

Rushed seems like a far more reasonable conclusion.

Yeah, pretty obvious it was rushed so it wouldn’t be limited to Ryse as a launch exclusive.

League mode?
there isnt really a icon like there used to be indicating that you already own the car when in the buy car menu
some people recommend creating list of your cars
I have tried buying cars during career mode, every time you start a league, a new serie, you can either choose from cars you already own or cars that are eligible that you can buy for the series - this way you have them as if side by side - first I checked my cars I own, then I backed out with B and went to left to buy cars and bought the cars I didnt own

Continue Career and League Select are the same collection of series and races, I think Continue just jumps you to the unfinished series championship that matches the car you’re in.

There’s no working marker to show which cars you already own when you’re in the Buy Cars list. (post that request in the Features Wishlist thread above and maybe we can get them to add it). What I do is go to Multiplayer, Create a lobby, then set the restrictions to whichever model(s) I’m considering, then go to Select Car. That way narrows down the list to more easily look at what you own vs what you can buy.

If you need to know which cars are eligible for League series events, I have a thread on that here: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst228_FM5-Events--and-restrictions-list---Career--Multiplayer--Rivals.aspx

I made a spread sheet of all the cars that you can buy then checked them off as I bought them

As have I, and ManteoMax has one in his GoogleDocs that is pretty good if you can’t be bothered to make one yourself.

Thanks to all who responded. Very helpful, especially MantedMax’s list of series and associated cars. This in itself will make the game much more enjoyable and allow me to be far more focussed and deliberate when buying cars. I can’t understand why they couldn’t provide a series filter in the campaign when it seem they already have something similar coded for multiplayer.
