This model was hugely important for the whole TVR brand as it quite literally saved them from bankruptcy. With this model, TVR managed to get back to green numbers.
Almost every iteration of their S model was powered by Ford’s Cologne V6 naturally aspirated engine. Except 2 final versions. Those (called V8S) switched to Rover V8 engine.
Both of those engines were based on 3.5 version of said V8 engine.
Noticed how I mentioned 2 different versions? This is not the mistake. TVR had made more than just 1 version of this car.
On the most markets, they offered 4 litre version with naturally aspirated engine (called V8S 400M).
But they couldn’t do that in Italy. For that market they had to come up with something else. And they did. They have created a supercharged version of Rover V8 with displacement decreased to just 2 litres.
Back in day, there was a rule in Italy saying that cars with engines with more than 2 litres displacement are going to be heavily taxed. And TVR wanted to stay competitive even in Italy. So that is how the 2 litre version was born.
It’s needles to say that it totally flopped as TVR managed to sell just about 7 of them.
Thanks to the supercharger, it had almost the same power output as 4 litre version, but significantly lower torque.
I’d be more than happy if you could add the 2.0 version.
