Track width tuning outsmarts itself. I often want a setting between nothing and the least extreme. Example - Ferrari F12, front wheels. No extra offset is too far in and the first offset option is equally too far out. 2005 Mazdaspeed MX-5, similar, but not as severe, and I use no extra width on that because one of it’s strengths is narrow track.
Many cars that would benefit greatly have an offset setting don’t. Examples - Bentley Continental GT Speed, rear. Volvo 850 R, 2018 Mustang GT.
The wheels are hit and miss. Of the spoke-y, modern designs, half of them have obscene amounts of offset (dish) while others, even classics like the BBS RS-GT, are almost flat with no character (looks like the same model from FH4?). The Weds SA-70 is atrocious. Ditto Volk RE-30 and some others. Now that I’m comparing pics to what I can find on the internet, the wheels overall are very undercooked relative to the cars they are tasked with holding.
I would put Advan ADV.Forzas on almost all of my cars if there was a tuning slider to morph the offset to more or less. Even on cars they work with, see this pic for why it’s “important” (FH4 has already pushed the bounds of open world car games in other aspects) to have tuneable wheel offset. https://www.adv1wheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/bmw-m4-libertywalk-widebody-body-kit-concave-deep-dish-adv1-wheels-E.jpg
Why do so many wheels have specific finishes that can’t be applied to other wheels? I “sort of” understand NOT letting us paint the rim and spokes separately… that’s fair. What if I want the Rota P45R gold finish, which is different from Gold, Polished and Semigloss Brass, and every other custom finish option? Or the TSW Catalunya finish? It looks almost exactly like Semigloss Aluminum, but with more reflective character… without going to the extreme like Polished Aluminum. Some of the HRE wheels, too, come with a nice chrome look that’s not overpowering. Can we get some of those options in custom paint? Alternatively, there could be multiple Manufacturer color options for wheels, too. I know TE37s come in white as well as black.
I take a similar issue with car paints. There’s Normal, then Special. What happened to Metallic? Normal is boring. I don’t want Flake, or Semigloss, no Two-Tone (usually)… I want custom colors with the same depth as many of the manufacturer color options. Similar to wheel finishes, I don’t understand why these finishes were locked into certain manufacturer options or wheels and made unavailable in all other custom shades and applications.
