Using a Thrustmaster TX and they’re just not recognized from the game, I bought separately the Servo Base/pedals/TX wheel but it’s actually a Thrustmaster TX Leather, all the parts are the same. I also have the TH8A Shifter.
Let me note I’m talking about the main game, not the demo, I bought the Ultimate edition.
I start the game, go to the control options and then Wheel, the default settings are blank and if I try to use custom mapping the game will simply not recognize any button.
I downloaded the latest firmware and drivers for both devices, tried them in other games both before and after the updates, it’s just not working on FH4 only. I used them in FH3 with the only problem being that the shifter was not working, so I used EmuWheel and everything was fine.
Other things I’ve tried,
Tried to play with only the wheel, without connecting the shifter
Tried different USB ports
Tried setting the wheel as the default controller through the control panel
Tried a clean installation of the drivers and system reboots
I seem to have a similar issue. When I first started up Forza horizon 4 on my PC we used my son’s gamer profile and set up the wheel controls for him just fine (Thrustmaster TX with the 599 FXX rim and T3PA ProPeddles and TH8A shifter) note that he’d already been playing in on the Xbox one. However when I went to start a new game with my profile it just doesn’t detect the TX wheel and although I can set controls there is no FFB. I’ve restarted the PC and game several times and it always works on my son’s profile but never on mine which is really frustrating as I can’t play the game with my wheel yet.
I didn’t get any help from support on this one but I did finally manage to fix it myself. After much trial and error I went into the Users Appdata directory and deleted all the files for my gamertag and copied all the files from my son’s gamertag. I then disconnected the pc from the internet and when I started up my with profile although it made me start Forza from scratch it retained the wheel settings from my son’s profile and hey hey I’ve got FFB so I’m happy but why this stupid bug should happen is another mater.
Is your profile connected to Microsoft Account or is it a local one? How about your son’s?
My only account is an online Microsoft Account but when I get home I’ll try create another, local account and see if it works. Something could be messed up with my current account maybe? I had FH3, could something have interfered?
SOLVED … omg the problem was so stupid…
I was using EmuWheel and Vjoy for Forza Horizon 3 in order for my shifter to work. FH3 didn’t have multi-USB support so shifter wouldn’t work alongside a wheel.
The way EmuWheel works is by creating an emulated device which is fed to the game as ONE device while hiding the other TWO devices from the game. I removed this software since I don’t plan to return to FH3 but I didn’t remember there was a step where I hid the wheel from just the Forza games, that’s why the wheel worked fine in everything except Forza.
If a Googler find this thread, know that you have to use Hush to return the wheel to normal.
If like me you’ve deleted Hush and the config file, the faster way is to go to your registry (run regedit) and find the entries with a value key “disabled=1” and delete them. The path is this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GameInput\Devices
You can delete the folders with the IDs which are under the folder “Devices” and only have an entry “disabled=1”. Otherwise just turn the “disabled=1” to “disabled=0”, I suppose it’s the same.
