Hello everyone!
I’m not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I couldn’t find anything more suitable. Also, I know there are things like “car recommendations” that have their own section/forum, but there are too many ideas that are related that I don’t wanna separate them.
I’ve been a Forza player since Motorsport 4, but the Horizon series has a special place in my heart (since I basically grew up playing those games), with FH1 and FH3 being among my favorite games of all time. So, since FH6 will be set in Japan (a country that I really like), I wanted to share some thoughts and ideas on what I think would be exciting and meaningful to see.
I don’t expect anyone from Turn 10, Playground, or Microsoft to read this, but I’d like to hear what the community thinks.

With FH6 being set in Japan, I think it would be nice to see a “tribute” to Japan’s automotive history. As many should know, Japan has a really rich automotive history. To start, they have some of the most iconic brands (like Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Honda and Subaru), all of them with many iconic cars. Also, for some reason many of them are quite unique in terms of engine design, like Subaru fighting to keep the boxer engine (just like Porsche) or even Mazda that is the only brand that managed to keep the rotary engine alive after the Germans gave up on it (even winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991, being their 787B the first (and last) car with a non-piston engine that won that race).
In that topic, they also are like the “home” of tuning, with brands like Rocket Bunny, Liberty Walk, KRC Japan, TCP Magic, Chargespeed, and Varis. Not to mention they have some famous modders like Akira Nakai, for example. (fun fact, the boss of Liberty Walk is known as Kato-san; just like Green Hornet’s crime-fighting sidekick that also happens to modify cars, at least in the movie from 2011).
Then, in the racing scene, they have legends like Keiichi Tsuchiya (aka The Drift King) and the Midnight Club (which story is quite interesting, with a lot of myths about them). They also have more less know but still somewhat iconic racing teams like “No Good Racing”.
So, actual things that would be cool to see:
In terms of cars:
-
More less known JDM cars (like what they did with Holden cars on FH3, or the Peel P50 in FH4) like the Daihatsu Copen, or Nissan with the Stagea, Toyota Origin, Nissan Figaro, to name a few.
-
The inclusion of more Kei Cars: in FH5 we have the Autozam AZ1, but would be cool to see things like the Suzuki alto works, Suzuki Alto Lapin, Honda Beat, Mitsubishi Pajero Mini, Subaru R1, Suzuki cappuccino, Suzuki Jimmy, Daihatsu Opti, Suzuki Mighty Boy, etc.
-
Barn finds with unknown/strange old Japanese cars (even some prototypes would be really fun to see) like the Toyota Sports 800, the Suzuki C2, Honda S600, Toyota EX-7, Toyota EX-III, Toyota 2000 GT, Isuzu Bellett MX1600, Nissan MID4, Nissan 270X, Subaru 360, Subaru R2, Mazda R360, Mazda RX-3, etc. Maybe even some cars from members of the “Midnight Club”.
-
Less known JDM sports cars like the Mitsubishi FTO, Mazda RX4, Mazda Lantis Type R, Mitsuoka Orochi, Subaru SVX, Toyota Sera, Toyota MR2 Spyder, Nissan Autech Zagato Stelvio AZ1, Mazda MX-6, Toyota Century (not sporty, but that V12 with a custom exhaust sounds like a Formula 1 car LOL), etc.
-
And obviously, this must feature all the well known and beloved JDM cars we all know, like the Mazda RX-7, Honda/Acura NSX, Toyota Supra MK4, Nissan Skyline GTR R34, Nissan GTR R35, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO series, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Mitsubishi Eclipse, etc.
-
Add a brief story of every car when the player is in Forzavista, just like in FH3 where Warren gives a brief, narrated history and breakdown of the specific car and its manufacturer after viewing it for a short time.
In terms of gameplay:
-
Street racing with more “lore”, cinematics and a story (FH1 has some of this), like you raising from nothing to a street racing legend, using a mask (maybe) and a name different to your Horizon’s nickname (to give it a more “obscure” aura).
-
Something exploring the history of the midnight club, unveiling the reality behind the myths that surround it (for anyone willing to dive deeper, this video from the youtuber Albon explains their story pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVMpAf9PTR0).
-
Drifting events (or a drifting academy).
-
Hopefully, main story/gameplay focused on the pursuit of becoming a better driver, honoring one aspect of the Japanese culture that is the pursuit of perfection (even the current Mazda logo is related to that, representing “growth” and “improvement”).
-
It also would be cool to make expensive supercars more harder to get; I mean, like in FH1 or FH2, where you must play the game a lot more time to get a supercar, contributing to the sense of progression (something I felt is missing since FH3, but mostly since FH4; being FH1 the game with the biggest sense of progression of all the Forza Horizon franchise).
-
Hopefully a main “thread” or story, leaving the “stunts” and “stories” series as “side-quests” (like in most games. Take Zelda BOTW as an example, you have your main story plus a bunch of side quests).
Well, that’s all I can think of right now. I also wanna know what the rest of the community says. Do you agree with some of the ideas? do you disagree? Do you have your own ideas? Please, leave them below!
