Thanks B Wald, I seem to have a very similar mindset to you in terms of the Drivitars, and for your use of the word “Zany” I want to give you kudos. You’re spot on and, as frustrating as it can be, it is it is a good explanation of why things happen.
Your comment about the corner exit speed is spot-on, and i think this also echoes through into the multiplayer as well as the most important factor in driving in H2.
I have also experienced the random brake-checking, I’m speculating, but I believe it’s down to them being told to “Cruise” and “Stick with us” however when they’re going so incredibly fast they can’t moderate their speed is how I see it, so they catch up and then are going too fast so they need to slow down as quick as possible to give us the immersion of cruising.
Similar thing happen to me. I parked my car somewhere offroad to avoid traffic as I pit-stopped in the kitchen to grab a drink. Came back and witnessed as a Ferrari and a Lamborghini gangbang my poor little Datsun. Driveatars is a cool idea. AI that drives like online players. The problem with that is the fact that a lot of online players drive like morons and this translates very well into the game. That being said, I suppose the system works! I don’t like them during races, either. They always ram me and somehow throw themselves into corners at stupid speeds and yet don’t suffer any sort of under-steer at all and sky-rocket through turns. If you’re in front of one of them, then you’d get rammed off the road.
Why do Drivatars not have spatial awareness and ram the player?
Why when a Drivatar rams the player from behind does the player lose their skill chain?
Why do some buildings have an invisible wall in front? (Rubbish object collusion zones or just plain unfinished, not sure?)
