This is what we have ,,, need some advice please

Hello everyone,

This is a first post on this forum, so here is what we have. First of all I bought my Grandson an X-Box One S and we have it hooked up to my Samsung 27" curved monitor. I then bought a Logitech G920 wheel and he wanted Forza Horizon 4 , so we bought that.
The wheel calibrated then within seconds shut down, this went on for 2-3 days, in fact the G920 did not work at all with the X-Box and FH4. I contacted Logitech Support , I might as well have asked the cat !! for some help , In any event the G920 was no good at all, I was well within the 30 day return period so I returned it and bought a Thrustmaster TMX Force Feedback.
As of this time I haven’t unboxed the wheel but we will this morning, is there anything I should be aware of ? what should the sequence be when attaching the wheel to the X-Box ? Is it fairly straight forward to adjust the settings for the TMX when playing FH4 ?

Thanks guys , appreciate any input.

Mine works either way
I could have all plugged in when turning on xbox or i can plug it in with xbox already on

My old wheel needed to be plugged in first before turning my xbox on though

Theres adjustable settings within the options or settings screen

I have the G920, works fine… perhaps you got a faulty unit.

Not sure about the Thrustmaster, but the G920 works for the Xbox Menus as well, not just in the Forza Games.

I plugged mine in and setup power to it before turning on the Xbox. Used it on Xbox One S and Xbox One X

Tmx works fine, but your life will be a whole lot easier if you get your grandson acclimated to using controller with horizon. He’s young and adaptable, unlike some users, cough latothex, cough cough.

That is true, adapt to the controller when you are young. It is too late once you are in your 60’s

Dirty Harry!

Myself, I have only ever played racing games with a steering wheel. Currently, new TMX.

This page helped me with my wheel

They have a wheel users guide under the H4 section

By the way I have a G920 and my grandson uses it

There’s nothing wrong with playing with a controller either. You’ll run into people on the forum, none here, that will put down controller play. A wheel is fun yes, but if you play other games like FPS, sandbox, anything, it becomes a bit of a hassle. That’s just me tho.

I use a controller for serious racing and my wheel for cruising around, a mix of both is fun.

Mixing controllers could make it tough to master either. I was curious, what difficulty do you play? Do you stay on the podium?

When I use controller I can win every time against unbeatable drivatars while using no assists, on the wheel i can win against expert level most times. But i usually don’t race with the wheel, only really use it while freeroaming.
