Things you would like to see on the open world map

I’m opening this thread to see what people would like to see or find on the Japan map. We know it won’t be a 100% accurate map, and I think that’s good because we can focus on things that represent or are found in Japan without everything being too spread out or having to completely redesign the map to make it more fun and engaging. Here are some things from real-life Japan that I would like to see on the map:

  • Mount Fuji

  • Mountain Pass

  • Large Traditional Housing Estate

  • Narrow Uphill Road

  • Abandoned Nara Dreamland

  • Rural Japan

  • Japanese Temple

  • Tokyo City Center

  • Highly Industrial Area

  • Large City with Skyscrapers

  • Rice Field Landscape

  • Cherry Blossom Tree

  • Highway

  • Suzuka Circuit

  • Forest

  • Daikoku Parking Area

  • Underground Parking Lot

  • Yamaguchi

  • Deer Park (Japan)

  • Lit-up Restaurant District

  • The Kurushima Bridge

  • Shinjuku District

  • Small Village

  • Nakadake

  • Aquarium

Haneda Airport and gas/EV stations

I’m not an expert on Japanese geography, so my answers are going to be way more generic.

First, I’d want to see another dockyard similar Horizon 2. This was a fun, but extremely underutilized area (at least in single player). We’d like to see another one.

Second, a modern airport runaway. We’ve had two abandoned runaways in a row. Time for an active one.

Third, a closed circuit more akin to Falcon Speedway from Horizon 4 LEGO Speed Champions. The developers can preach all day that the Horizon Festival in Horizon 5 took place on a racetrack of some kind, but it’s looked like no active racetrack I’ve ever seen. Needs more permanent barriers and spectator stands. It can also be a drift circuit as well. Preferably fictional.

Fourth, an off-road stadium. Not sure if Japan really has these, but I really liked the one in Horizon 5, and was beyond annoyed at how underutilized it was. Have one again in Horizon 6, but this time, add more official racetracks at the venue. Don’t let the community do all the heavy lifting for obvious things.

Fifth, a motocross park. Horizon 4 had one, and it was fun. Horizon 5 Rally Adventure had a really small fun one as well. Again, too bad no official race was set at the one in Horizon 5. Had to make my own via EventLab.

Sixth, a quarry. Horizon 4 and Horizon 5 Rally Adventure each had one, and they were great.

Seventh, a modern trainyard. Horizon 4 had one, but it was abandoned. Like the airport, I’d like to see an active one.

Eighth, an abandoned mine. Okay, I’ve had enough active locations. Here’s some abandoned locals. Again, not sure if Japan really had a mining industry at any point, but if it did, it’d be fun to have abandon mineshafts to explore, similar to the ones found in the first and third Cars game, or the PS2 version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.

Ninth, an abandoned village. One thing I do know Japan has several of is abandoned villages. This can be a good location for creepier-in-atmosphere tracks.

Tenth, an industrial park. This can be a mixture of active and abandoned buildings. Power plants, oil refineries, and automotive factories are all potential buildings.

Also, given their importance to Japanese racing culture, I’m sure highways, mountain passes, and gas stations are probably a given.
