I remember reading about how FH1 had the best story in the series because it actually gave a challenge, your character was an underdog, blah, blah, blah. Many of us have also discussed how FH5’s story was so empty, since there wasn’t an actual reason to, well, race, since you were already a superstar.
Which brings me to this article: Forza Horizon Is Secretly A Game About A Billionaire Cult Leader.
Honestly, this theory fits for FH5 the best, since FH1 and FH2 (probably) had the underdog characters, FH3 had you appointed as the boss, and FH4 had you registered in the leagues WITHOUT being a superstar yet. The fact that someone could make such a theory about Horizon Mexico shows how ridiculous the story is.
I liked FH1’s story the best, climbing up the ranks and competing with the stars there. Now, it’s pretty much the opposite. Your position in the festival is so inflated that people would praise you despite your possible incompetence. Darius would’ve killed to be in the same position as you.
Edit: I actually have an idea for an underlying story for FH6. So, the first 4 festivals were completely fine, but some person (The FH5 protag) bribed Horizon Mexico to become its obnoxious, unreasonably positive self. FH6 puts you in the shoes of a person who registered in the next festival, and soon enough uncovers the rigged, dark truth behind the happy facade that you race in. You then try to rally the others to end the scheme. (It is rather unoriginal, as the “race is rigged” plotline was already there in NFS: Payback.)
