Disagree, there’s a lot about FH5 that they should be proud about. It may not be what we want but it doesn’t mean it’s rubbish.
What’s there to be proud about, honestly? Everything competent in Horizon 5 is a carryover from the other games. Only thing really new about Horizon 5 compared to Horizon 4 is a new map and car list, the latter of which was actually heavily butchered at worst and stale at best at launch.
Game of the year 2021 of course! Only joking. Look I’m not here to defend the game, I just think it’s harsh to say they shouldn’t be proud of anything.
That is only true if you’re comparing it to games of a similar workmanship in the current economic climate. But proud of the game as it stands among other games is different from pride in one’s personal workmanship. Just the lack of attention to detail, mistakes in spelling, incorrect cars listed as prizes, not to mention all the errors in programming. Those are the things related directly to pride in workmanship.
Do you build something to just meet industry standards and call it good? Or do you strive to set new standards and raise the bar?
Yeah, as a game, in the gaming industry, PGG can be proud of FH5. But can the programmers and developers be all that proud of their workmanship if we really look at the overall depth of the game?
I know as a fellow software developer that I’m part of a team and that I don’t work on everything, nor do I make all the decisions. Therefore just because others make bad decisions does not mean that I cannot do a good job myself and be proud of my work.
My point is the team behind PGG would comprise of many individuals with different roles and responsibilities. Clearly some individuals and roles are performing poorly, however, that’s not to say all individuals and roles are performing poorly. The same can be said for the development team which would comprise of many different teams working on different aspects of the game. Just because one team does a poor job on a given feature doesn’t mean another team hasn’t done a fantastic job delivering on what they were tasked to do and thus can take pride in their work.
This is true. And it’s a top down problem. I worked at Hewlett-Packard years ago. When Bill and Dave still ran the show. And it was their top down pride in the company that meant the floor sweepers had just as much pride in the company as Bill and Dave. But then they started stepping down, and with them, stepped that pride in the company. Until “carly” took over and the only pride at h-p left was in the bottom line.
So yes, if there is pride in your company and pride in your workmanship then “You” can make a big difference in the total product.
That’s not to say “You” can’t have pride in your one little bit of the process. And the rest of the process still falls short. If it isn’t a total team effort it isn’t going to show in the final product. And that doesn’t show in the total final product of FH5 (or rather FH4.809 ).
We all have no idea about what goes on in PGG but from the outside I would look to the creative director, Mike Brown.
“The job of a creative director is essentially to develop and oversee creative projects from concept to execution . Creative directors set the direction for a brand’s identity or the vision for a film. They’re in charge of the overall vision and narrative in marketing, advertising, or creative campaigns.”
So call his broker and find out if he has stock in ea sports and Criterion studios?
Nice straw man… no one here said this game doesn’t have bugs.
The problem is you lot of whiners on this forum that make every single inconvenience a spring board to bash everyone that enjoys it.
BTW: you do know they have a forum specifically for SUGGESTIONS and one for Troubleshooting which is where 90% of these threads in discussion should be. All you care about is being seen, not fixing the game or you’d be in the right place and doing the right things, not yelling into the void on a forum that they don’t read for support issues.
Smarties.
Exactly - in reality you’re board with your most favorite game (which is dead and not offering any thing new and exciting) and lash out about it.
Sad really… you should try letting yourself enjoy it… nothing is going to bring back Fh3 and your feels at the time no matter how hard or long our loudly you pine for it.
Yeah everyone should be in the Solved Forum where bugs are magically solved before anyone looks at them.
Your inability to understand that a report of a bug being marked “resolved” because they already have that bug reported, and being unable or unwilling to go to the known bugs list to check isn’t their fault.
And your smart answer to this is to post in a forum they say they don’t read for support issues - which just proves again, and you admit, all you lot are here to do is muck up the forums because you’re all ignorant about how things work and think you’re entitled to individual service because your fingers banged out a post.
You spend more time on this forum than playing the game… what do you know about anything?
Yeah that’s why all the ‘solved’ bugs from FH4 are still in FH5 3 years later.
The bugs/issues that you see will persist because of the likely AGILE development framework they use. I don’t know if they use it, but from what I’ve seen of AGILE, it explains a lot about games nowadays.
Oh my. And people wonder why this game is so terrible lol. This is the first game you play in your entire life, right?
First rule of game development is, don’t allow the vocal minority on internet forums to dictate the development, balancing and content of your game.
Yes, I trust the actual developers vision for their game over forum dwellers that don’t know anything about game development. Go figure!!
I’m a game designer… go figure!!
You just never who’s lurking here, or what their background is do you?
You spelt bored wrong. Also, you’re right, Horizon 5 shouldn’t be more like Horizon 3. It should be more like Horizon 1.
