I like the sound of H2 better MotoGamesTV videos look better and sometimes different then some of the others we’ve seen. Some of the textures on the ground are much better in H1, but in other parts H2 looks really good too. I guess we have to live with it and maybe on a good tv screen it will not look too bad.
in all honestly the graphics car wise does look better to me in 2 than 1. and 2 sounds MUCH better engine wise. was a much more meaty engine sound than the 1st horizon.
A lot of people have been complaining about the 360 version vs. The Xbox One version.
Guys, the Xbox 360 is ten years old. It has been, and still is, a great game system. From the video omega posted, I see the quality of graphics may not be a huge leap forward from the original Horizon, but also consider that Horizon 1 was released at what was already the height of XBox360 development. Developers could certainly use the 360 to the full extent of its capability by that time. Many of the greatest games for the system came out around then. And it still looks impressive today, in my opinion.
As far as features varying from the One version, Turn 10 has never stated once that the game would be the same. I’m paraphrasing here, but I believe they stated something along the lines of “the 360 version is a seperate game created in the same spirit as the Xbox One version.”
The One is simply capable of things that the 360 is not. The hardware itself is vastly more powerful. The engine for Forza 5 definitely contributes to the percieved difference between the two consoles also. Look at FM5’s colorful, atmospheric Nurburgring compared to the gray, lifeless Ring in FM4. Night and day difference.
Also consider that XBox One owners have invested heavily in a new system when there is strong competition out there. To many One owners, and remember that most of us owned 360s too, the game had better be different. It’s expected and it seems they’re delivering. That doesn’t make me upset that I did hundreds of laps on the Ring in Forza 4. It does make me glad I saved for and invested in an Xbox One.
No one is downing any 360 owners, two of my brothers still use 360s, and I myself miss mine for Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, GTAV, and numerous other games I might never get to play again. One of my brothers preordered Horizon 2 for his 360, and I’m sure he’ll have fun with it. I’m sure it will be a fun game.
But the One is the new focal point guys, and the 360 is on a pathway to planned obsolescence. This will not be the last time that the Xbox One outshines its older brother.
Trade in your 360 towards a One when you can, it will reduce the cost a bit, and if you catch a store like GameStop when they’re doing a 50% trade in bonus, you might end up getting more than you expect.
Holy Kenoli , seems like Sumo Digital had to cut a lot in the texture department on the X360. There are tons of seamless textures repeating on walls and rocks, giving away a lot less detail than on Xone. The Skydome seems simpler and more streched by field of view settings. They also had to reduce the amount of particles and rigidbodies, so there is not much to destroy. Not even speaking of vegitation and traffic. No surprise, given the amount of memory / power and disc space.
So the differences ARE quite heavy once you sum it all up. Still, I am quite impressed by what Sumo managed to keep on the old 360 with its hardware from 2005. And aside from less free roaming off streets, the gameplay doesn’t suffer much from the cuts. Seems so at least. I’ve played the XO version quite a while, but didn’t have the chance to play the x360 version yet. All I have for a comparison are the videos links here.
The ultimate question in this comparison is whether it’s worth 460 bucks to you ( → buy xbox one plus FH2) to get the best experience. Although I love the game on Xbox One, my opinion leans towards the 360 Version, as long as Xone doesn’t have more system sellers in other genres. Well, doesn’t matter to me personally, since I have an xbox one already. Just saying… if I didn’t…
No, all the cutting doesn’t make sense at all. It’s not like the game got suddenly more huge and power hungry. FH1 was actually way more complex in gameplay then FH2 is. FH2 uses the core, but took a lot out. Adding a few cars and changing some menus isn’t such a burden on the 360 at all. The enviroment looks way less good then TDU1 and 2. Those are way more complex then FH2 is. The 360 could handle TDU1 and 2 just fine and there are a lot of features in that game, way more complex then either FH1 or 2. The game could have looked at least as good as FH1 and on most videos it doesn’t. We’ve seen in the past that visually this could have been done way better.
It still will be a fun game and perhaps once we see it live it will not be as bad, for now it’s wait and see, but I’m getting the feeling that they could have done better. The may not have had the budget for it, that could well be the case, after all for MS it’s all about the XO. If you put Horizon 1 and Horizon 2 for the XBox One side to side, the difference isn’t going to be that great. Yes, the XO version cars look way better, but the enviroment is quite close. Put the H2 versions side to side and you;ll notice a huge difference. So, it’s either budget or competely on purpose to make the XO shine more… wouldn’t be surprised if it’s both
But you DO remember that TDU 1 and 2 not only had lots of bugs but also sported a stuttery framerate with pumping loading sequences while on the road, right? And That TDUs lighting was abysmal compared to horizon’s (shadows not having effect on the roof and stuff like that). Not even speaking of the heavy LOD changes just a few meters in front of your nose. Don’t wanna rain on your parade, since I liked TDU 1 and 2 very much, but there is no reason to glorify the technical aspects of TDU when it was way worse than Forza Horizon, no matter if part 1 or 2.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Nobody that’s actually did a side-by-side comparison between FH1 and FH2 are going to agree with you on FH2 not looking as good as the first. As for TDU, that didn’t have racing physics on par with Forza, as I recall. This is important because there’s only so much processing power in the hardware and the more that is dedicated to driving physics the less that’s available for graphics. Yes, I reckon one is handled by the CPU while the other by the GPU, but the whole system has a fixed amount of RAM to operate with, so the more RAM that’s being utilized for physics the less that’s there for graphics.
??? Nobody is going to agree with me that the enviroment (that’s what I’m mentioning) of FH2 for the 360 doesn’t look as good as it did in FH1? Have you even read the thread? The cars in FH2 look better, they sound better, but the enviroment looks worse. Now if you’re thinking about FH2 for the XO, then you’re right, but we weren’t talking about the XO version at all. We were comparing FH 2for the 360 with FH1 and I’d say about everyone would agree that the world in FH2 for the 360 (let me stress that part a lot now) doesn’t look as good as in FH1.
As for the XO version, of course it looks better. Not way better, but better and it should.
A lot of peolpe are complaining about the ‘dullness’ of the X360 landscape, but we can probably change some colour settings on our TV’s so that the game looks more ‘alive’, right? Also, Youtube makes everything darker, so please don’t rant about the greyness of the game, first play it yourself, you’ll see it’s not as bad as it seems
Well i have played the 360 version for around 4hrs, the world seem bland and empty. The graphics are sub-par when you compare to FH1, But handling has been much improved imo. I have also played Xbone version and handling is the same as old Forza series, which i hate
Can you still play it and make us some images or videos perhaps? Nice to hear that the handling has improved, but it’s a real shame about the graphics. Can you give an overal impression/review of the game, aside from the graphical impression?
I am at work now and will probably get back home in 6 hrs or so. I can give you some impressions.
Xbox 360:
The handling of cars are sharp and steady and this was my dream for a Forza franchise. Guess thats what Sumo digital done here. The only thing i hated about Forza is the handling of cars, which ultimately led boredom and later on i ditch the game. But here, handling has been made better in my opinion, which makes you feel to play more and more. The Graphics of cars are pretty much same as FH1, except the rear lights look bull on FH2. The environment is empty, very less traffic, jaggy shadows, no vegetation, barely any trees and on top of that lot of bugs. Once i went down the earth with infinite falling glitch and i had to reverse back.
The Draw distance is terrible and most of the objects are indestructible (unlike on the Xbox one). There is no wheel spin rewards on the 360. The best thing is the gameplay which is now better. There are plenty of events and most of the events are different to the Xbox one’s which means you get to play like two games. I did not check the online part of the game.
Xbox One:
Handling is cr@p, everything else is beautiful. You have a bunch of special paints like the chrome, gold chrome, brushed steel etc. Weather effects are great but too much slippery. I wish i know how to tune the cars to suit my handling needs. You earn faster XP and credits on the xbox one than on Xbox 360. The Laferrari costs 800,000
As i said before, if the world feels bland, try to change your tv colour settings to try and make the game look more colourful, it will really help you look over the bad graphics
If it doesn’t work, sorry, i’ll mind my own business next time
That’s my point. It didn’t look better by any means. Stuttering framerate is the single biggest failure a racing game can have. And that wasn’t the only flaw in TDU.
Based on my observations of the 360 version and the One version, it’s almost like the graphics, the very rough ones in the 360 version, are like the ones in the rear view mirrors in the One version.
