The Delta S4 group B rally car

This isn’t really a post asking for tips or anything. Just my opinion

The Lancia Delta s4 with the widebody kit on it becomes the group B version, it looks identical and gets big weight reduction. When I first saw the car in the game I was pretty excited to see it return.

But this thing is AWFUL. I upgraded it to s1, so it has around the same horsepower as the actual group B car, and it’s just a nightmare on wheels, it’s so bad.

ive tried tuning this thing multiple times in hopes of making it somewhat competitive against the other rally cars and I’ve made some small improvements, but it’s still just terrible.

The main problem with this car is that it just spins the tires, all the time. It digs a rut for itself and spends 34 minutes trying to exit a corner, but it at least looks cool while doing it, I guess.

I understand that you have to be easy on the throttle with most cars to prevent the tires from spinning, but this is why the delta s4 is so bad. There are plenty of other cars in the game that can put all their power down in the dirt without having to be easy on the throttle and it’s a shame. I wish this car was good enough to live up to its legacy.

Put your best tune up and give me one for a different group B car you really like. How are you setting your down force?

I’m still working on some sort of final tune for the delta. But as for downforce, I’ve tried messing with lots of different setups. I’ve found that the best lap times come from using high front downforce and medium/ low rear downforce. Enough to keep the back end of the car from sliding out at higher speed.

Those group B cars all tend to be awful, the 205 and Metro are no better, even the S1 is bad. The only driveable one is RS200 imho.

Tried tuning the suspension for a long time and got something that worked out okay, then I took my original tune and fiddled with the differential for 5 minutes and its better. So I think the key to this thing is to keep the stock engine for the lower torque and tune the differential for under steer until you get a good feel and set the power balance to ~55% rear.

The Hoonigan RS200 just handles better and has a higher top speed though.

Yeah I’ve messed with this car for a very long time. I found that adjusting how fast/slow the diffs lock is probably the biggest way to improve the car. In my final tune I used 70% power distribution to the rear and 50% accel settings for both front and rear difff. With my final tune I was able to run a 8:51 on the gauntlet (I test all my rally cars on that track) which is surprisingly not too bad.

My fastest time with an S1 car around the Gauntlet is 8:37 in the Mustang Debertti Design.

It’s worth noting that the Gauntlet has a lot of asphalt sections, but I think a rally car being good on the road is very important since a lot of horizon 4’s rally stages have big road sections.
