I was wondering, in the free play version of fm5 the AI doesn’t seem to react well to the other drivers in the race, for example if theres a slower car in front it will just stay behind it, and then the car behind will do that until theres a whole line of cars creeping. Is there a method to fix this? I tried Collision mode off but they still act like its on (even though they could pass without damage), tried a private multiplayer race (difficulty on both occasions was Unbeatable) but that made no difference. In fm4 I used freeplay to test the cars max speed out and if you were in the way the AI would actually pull out and pass you.
Since I haven’t seen any complaints such as this on the forums I was wondering whether it is by design the AI act like this or something I am missing.
Any advice is appreciated
Off all the things wrong with this game this for me is the most annoying. I already made a rant about this 4 months ago. I got no response at all so either no one else has this problem or no one cares.

Ah I see. Did not see that thread, think it also affects career but since theres no Mulsanne circuit its harder to tell. I’d 100% agree it ruins the experience though, preferred FM4’s way lol, weird I haven’t seen any other threads on it though
probably because this game has so much more and bigger problems.
The ai has been like that since the first Forza game.
Not, in 4 at least. Havent played the ones before. As explained previously if you do freeplay in Fm4 the cars will actually attempt an overtake if you’re slower than them. In fm5 this doesn’t happen; they simply pass you if you happen to leave a space in front of them. If it didn’t happen in any Forza im sure more people would have noticed.
An example check the AI in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9coLBIJSHN0
Another example in fm4 is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgjnnXiAF4s at 11:23 you see the Fiat Punto pull out of the racing line to try and pass the player, if that was Fm5 the car would simply stay behind and cause the rest to slow to down too, its more obvious if you choose the Mulsanne circuit in fm5 and use high tier cars.
ok so I did a multiclass race with the AI in Forza 4. It was S class & D class, the S class ai drivers lost 2 to 5 seconds over there best lap while trying to pass the AI in D class cars. That is a lot of time & to me is being stuck behind the slower cars.
will do the same thing in Forza 5 later.
I meant when you do freeplay. Choose a random stock A class or S car in the Mulsanne track, let a faster car pull up behind on the long straight and you’ll see them pull out of their racing line to overtake you. When you do the same thing in fm5 for example S class, when theres track cars with the supercars, on the straight they’ll just slow down to 150mph or whatever the slower cars top speed is, they wont attempt an overtake, just stay behind and keep braking, and they’ll do that all the way until the turn.
