Nothing about that says its a 996, it just says 911 GT3.
The picture is definitely not a 996. The 996 didn’t have the rear fender flare or brake duct.

Yeah not a 996 at all. Man, just seeing how rumours start 'round here never ceases to amaze me. That’s assuming the TrueAchievements pic is correct, of course, which I’ll bet it is.
That being said: I’m relieved since I wasn’t going to be around for the GT3 Forzathon and I’d be much more disappointed if I were missing the 996 than I would be missing the 991.
I think all 3 Porsche models have been a forzathon reward already. Could this be the second chance to get these 3 cars? If they are in fact new models then we all win anyway.
The Cayman, Cayenne, 944 and RSR are all new to Horizon.
The 918 is a repeat and the 911 GT3 could be as well.

Once again, I wasn’t clear, sorry Stang. I meant the next 3 forzathon awards are repeats. I understand what you have written and I see the Cayman GTS is new. I was wrong, We have the Cayman GT4 already. Maybe the 911 GT3 is the 2004 model.
I just check TrueAchievements again and realized that they have listed forzathons happening for the next 32 days. The #45 RSR in 32 days!!! Yes, this is a good month of forzathons.

The Forzathon theme pictures don’t usually relate to or show the award car. The 911 GT3 is in all likelyhood the 996 that was part of the FM6 Porsche Expansion. The shorthand names like “911 GT3” are usually the ones on the leaderboard, so a newer GT3 would probably be “911 GT3 4.0” etc.
For instance, the picture for the Forzathon Achievement is the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which is already in the game as part of the Porsche Expansion.

Interesting…still not a single Boxster yet. I am pretty sure, that we will see one sooner or later. How about a 986 as a barn find 
I would prefer the 996 Turbo over the 996 GT3.

Some people like them, that’s enough reason for them to be added.
I feel the same about every hypercar that gets added, but I don’t begrudge people who like them and want them added.
