Super7 game mode

Playground Games gave an update on the Super7 High Stakes feature in the April 1st livestream:

High Stakes every time you complete a challenge you build up prizes in a pool, and when faced with a challenge that looks too difficult, you can either choose to take your prize pool and walk away, or complete the next three challenge in three attempts or lose your entire prize pool.

This feature is still “coming soon.”

(double post)

Oh.

I was expecting this to be more of an extension of the xp ladder with new exclusives. Taking it game show is different (and different is good), but reward gimmicks facilitation like this is best when implemented at launch when the offerings are all fresh and new to everyone. At this point, two years out, if the prize pool isn’t filled with golden water tickets, it’s hard to imagine there’ll be much interest in a bunch of old hat. It’d be one thing if the feature involved well-produced, more refined and polished events like the unfairly and much-maligned Horizon Stories; the reality is that most Super7 user-created content is either silly/ridiculous or just plain trash. Plowing through a bunch of nonsense for pools filled with Mini Coopers doesn’t strike me as being a very desirable activity, but fingers crossed, right?

I guess the game is new to the large number of Steam players who bought it recently. Which really amazes me quite honestly because if they wanted it on PC, why didn’t they buy it at any time in the last 30 months on the Windows store? It can’t be because all those people have a sufficiently strong aversion to that store? Who knows. The store may be a dog’s dinner but the game has largely worked perfectly on PC all that time.

As for this latest Super7 ‘initiative’, I don’t know whether to laugh or be sad at how the people tasked with making decisions about the game are so out of touch, but that’s been apparent for a long time.

Would it be possible to have more material options for Super 7? Some ideas for additional materials would include the following:

  • A slab of plain concrete about the size of one of the metal ramp panels.
  • A slab of weathered brick.
  • A section of Edinburgh storefront.
  • A section of 2-lane road with striping.
  • A section of low stone wall.
  • Sections of fencing of various types.
  • A parked car.

All these items are already currently modeled in the game.
I invite others to submit other ideas.

Please just give us hot wheels and legs bits. This mode was made for it! I want a Lego car launcher on top of that mountain already xD

Edit Super7 Challenge?
Is it possible to edit a challenge when posted?
I spent some time creating my first challenge (Speed Trap) and set the time limit to 1m 30s. After posting it I found that the time had reduced to 31s. I cannot find a way to edit this.

Super 7 High Stakes Garbage!
Such a shame the devs impemented such a useless mode!

Then don’t play it?

It’s a shame they spent the time and effort implementing this when there’s so many other issues that need attention.

What’s the problem with it?

Probably some people will like it, as there were people liking initial Super 7.
To me it was mostly BS challenges and I’ve taken Clutche’s advice then and will stick to it also for this.

And yes, shame devs don’t actually care about problems, so instead of fixing them, they push out this …

In any case its been mostly fun, with many bumps on the road (plenty of them are still there) and I’m getting close to closing this chapter.
Will I try FH5, defo, will I actually play it … depends if it can get me hooked.

People who are new to the game will be able to fast-track their prize winning…otherwise most of the older players will already own everything that can be won so, remember, not everyone is the target audience for these things and a game that is about to get end-of-lifed is not going to have unlimited stuffs…

I have to agree. 90% of the ones I get are garbage. Especially the Festival Drag Strip. Screw everyone who made one of those with badly tuned cars and starting placement not where cars should be.

Those drag races are lousy. Hit reverse first into wall behind and launch from there in one maneuver. Can roll into lane ez. Helps with lousy cars.

Agreed these are all basically a guess where I had the car at the start of my run.

I’ve done 5 rounds of this now, for some reason can’t get tier 2 open, I’ve had 2 get to destination, 4 jumps, 1 go faster than on a street and 29 festival drag strip.

That and loads of motorway runs!

Not forgetting the annoying Edinburgh-maze efforts with roads blocked off with concrete blocks & lorry trailers. All with a minimal time-limit !

It’s bad enough with half of these designs described in some foreign language or hieroglyphic symbols.
How are most of us to know what ‘разбить быструю машину, спрыгнув с бессмысленной рампы за 20 секунд’ means ?

(It’s ‘Crash a fast car after jumping off a pointless ramp in 20 seconds’ in Russian).

Meh. I’m sticking to the original Super 7 once a week, only so I can easily claim the weekly prize car upon completion.

Super 7 high stakes is pitiful
I had high hopes for this, I really did. I played maybe 50+ cards and some were really great, inventive, made me think. But now? I get 14+ cards in a row with beating speed records in 20-30 seconds on a drag strip. Hopeless. Takes me 30 seconds just to load and jump through all the screens so I’m spending more time clicking through screens rather than playing!

Would appreciate:

  • filter to select certain types of challenges
  • filter minimum time to complete
  • default value after completion should be ‘CANCEL’, not ‘LIKE’ as in no vote rather than vote to like by default when you’re trying to click through screens
    but most importantly
  • filter for time how much creator spent on it as anything under 10 minutes is a immediate write off

Agreed. Too many drag strip runs where you either have to reverse the car or do a run up.

Also too many motorway runs - get fed up of 20 secs to get the FXX to the end of the motorway.

I’ve seem a few clever ones that really taxed me but the vast majority were low rent smash up to get to point B and end up frustrating me.

Even the rewards aren’t worth the effort. The first had a pass which was semi-worth it but the rest have been standard cars or super wheelspins.
