Running Forza4 from a pretty high end pc on a GTX1080, installed on a SSD drive. Framerate usually within the 90-100fps range (3440x1440). So game runs extremely well, except from some strange stutters. Usualy, when starting a race (where the camera is pivoting around the car while loading) I see pretty big drops in framerate/stutters. Sometimes during a race too, seems like there’s a stutter when loading game assets but this shouldn’t occus since I’m running this off an SSD.
Is this a problem anyone else noticed too? Or is this something on my pc going wrong?
It’s not just you. The only thing I’ve noticed is it only happens when online play is enabled, if I select horizon solo I have zero stutters. I’m thinking they have some bad netcode in this, and maybe it’s related to all the teredo issues people are having too. At least PC is mostly playable besides from these stutters. I tried to play on Xbox one for a little bit last night and the game is almost unplayable. Constant freezing, extremely low fps, and the engine sounds glitch out and get stuck playing at a certain rpm until you stop the car. I feel bad for people who are console only right now.
Also i meant to include this, I’m on a 7700k / SSD with a 1080 TI with 16gb of 3600 mhz ram. and those stutters happen when connected to online still, so that’s why I don’t think it’s a hardware issue.
Tested some more, the issue has nothing to do with being either online of offline in my case. The stutter seems to occur when the game is loading assets, since it’s very noticeable when loading up a new race with the car spinning. It’s not as bad as to make the game unplayable, but it’s noticeable ingame from time to time. Occurs pretty much in every race or while freeroaming every x mins.
I know Nvidia pushed out drivers last Friday which might be worth trying. People were complaining at first about having crashes with the new driver but those complaints seem to have stopped with the latest game patch.
