I didn’t see this in the patch release notes or mentioned elsewhere, but this weekend I found something fixed instead of another bug. No idea when this happened.
It appears the pit lane is now part of the track for the Clean Racing Mod Cards with the “Stay On Track” requirement. For those not aware: at launch pitting would flag the driver for being off the track, so you couldn’t use Clean Racing Mod Cards with tire and fuel wear on races long enough to need a stop. I did a freeplay race with a couple of these cards and forgot to turn on cosmetic damage when I started the race, but eventually noticed I didn’t get flagged for going off track during pit stops. You also had to stay on the pit road or you could get flagged.
getting penalised for entering the pitlane was one of the more baffling things i had encounted in FM7. locked cars loot boxes and driver gear can be controversy all they want but when you suddenly find that entering the pits to get fuel and tires is suddenly deemed “doing it wrong” theres just no answer, no valid response.
How is getting fuel into a car that burns fuel so it can keep racing while taking part in a race doing anything wrong???
If thats truly been fixed then great! I might even turn damage back on because it at least made things interesting and it made oval races more than a snooze with a sticky taped throttle trigger (or in my case soon-to-be brick on the accelerator)
It was a necessity to add invalid laps for using the pitlane as on forza 6 leader boards people were exploiting the pit lane on Silverstone to cut out the last few corners. It was an oversight that this lap invalidated not only the lap time but also the mod card.
I think it flags on entry as well, if your pit entry is a little off. Try going into the pits at Sonoma with a slightly-off entry; you should see your “on track for race” checkbox go orange for a split second before the covering pit banner blanks your HUD. If you have rewind on, you can play around with this - rewind will take you back out of the pit entry, clear the banner, you can try other lines to see just where you’re off and where you’re on. Other tracks with long winding entries you get a lot more time to see if you’ve gone off the entry lane - but I think even the super-short entry tracks it’s flagging for being a little off right at the entry point. …and every track I’ve raced, if I hit the pit lane right, the “on track for race” checkbox is still white on pit exit and return to track.
Still seems a crapshoot. I pitted at Brands Hatch GP this evening with two clean lap mod cards and was fine. Friday I did the same at Daytona oval and was flagged for off course, even though I studiously slowed and obeyed the pit-in markings. At Daytona, it’ll flash the rewind warning indicating off course a beat before the pit animation takes control.
posted it on the 5th of october. Someone may have beaten me but in the case of my post it was actually still a disputed topic at the time. Some said that it was how it should be, others suggested it seemed a bit off or at least badly worded.
hooray for fixing up the mods (except i dont like the cheesey move up the grid ones! i didnt like them much in FM6 either)
Entering the pits will still lead to a dirty lap/race. Had to enter for fuel, and the clean lap mod was flagged. There is no rational reason for this crap! Clearly an oversight/bug! Perhaps there are other circumstances where the pit lane could be dirty, but don’t throw our the baby with the bathwater. It’s your game, but I bought it and will decide if I ever buy another.
