Hello, everyone.
My proposal is to take “Stay on track” system from Horizon Stories, which identifies if car isn’t on a designated track for event, starts a limited countdown and if car will not return on track within designated time period, penalizes the player and to apply it to other modes as well. In Horizon Stories penalty is a failure. In all other modes it can be a teleportation behind last car in the race, for example.
I find following reasons for that change:
- Both checkpoints and “stay on track” are unrealistic (specific points on the road vs. exact time countdown with automatic activation), but the latter allows for more realistic car driving.
- Ramming near checkpoints will disappear as no longer a valid (vile) strategy.
- It will ad an extra layer of strategizing during racing, i.e. “I can cut this corner, but maybe I should save my seconds till that one?” etc.
