Splitscreen - how does it work?

Hi folks,

This may just be me missing something very trivial, but: how does a second person play splitscreen?

I had a friend over for dinner last night, and they wanted to have a go at Forza, having noticed my rather prominent Playseat/Wheel setup in the middle of the living room. They wanted to just use a controller, so I took my seat, went to Free Play, set up a simple race around Road America, and on a controller pressed the ‘sandwich’ button to activate the second player, but all that happened was it backed out to the main menu (Career/Multiplayer/Rivals/etc.)

Deciding that maybe it was because my friend didn’t have an account on the Xbox One, they went ahead and set one up, and logged in alongside me, and we tried again. At that point it launched my friend into the intro race.

What am I missing to get a simple splitscreen race going? Surely the second person ought to be able to play as a guest, right?

Thanks in advance,
Toni

Okay … after some experimentation the simple answer is: doesn’t work with a TX wheel.

Tried starting with my wheel, going to Free Play, starting a controller, and pressing the button on the controller: exited Free Play
Next, disconnected the wheel, started Free Play, plugged in wheel, pressed the button on the wheel: exited Free Play
Finally, just used two controllers: worked fine

Guess I’ll have to race my friend without superpowers :-/

Were you trying to select your account while your friend signed in? I believe he has to use a guest account. Also, he won’t ever be able to use your garage cars…
