So I was watching the 95 Le man’s race today and couldn’t help but notice the speed of the wipers is much faster than in forza. I find the speed way to slow. Anybody else having an issue. It’s like having a slow refresh rate. Am I alone?
A wiper speed setting would be nice… I mean, that’s literally in every car made, with few exceptions, especially in FM6.
As a side note, while probably not the fault of the game, some cars have the most worthless wiping pattern that I’ve ever seen. The '99 Dodge Viper GTS is a good example. Wipes only the center of the windshield… http://i.imgur.com/RPyoAka.gif
Another side-note: How is it that there is a wiper pattern on my windshield in dry races after I pick up dirt on my car, when the wipers themselves haven’t been running?
I get the reasoning behind dirt pickup from an immersionary perspective but after noticing this the illusion was broken for me (not to mention the large amount of pickup you get after a 3 lap race anyway).
Nope, Turn 10 just screwed that up too. This is how they actually work. Still a strange wiper design though…
Oh wow, lol. That’s actually pretty awesome seeing that for real. Also I suspect it might have to do with the rather profound curvature of the windshield. Having regular wipers seems like it would be quite inefficient for the right-hand side if not for the way they’ve set it up.
Very good point! The wipers are just odd all round really. Doesn’t matter what car you’re in, they seem to have a delay between swipes instead of being continual. Dirt build up when its dry is strange and happens far too quickly. Rear wipers (if the car has one) are always on despite being pretty useless in a wet race. The worst thing about the wipers in my opinion though is that they just look so unrealistic and pathetic.
Oh dear me, where’s the start button as well, and really, why can’t my ‘virtual’ race car use its blinkers… Sarcasm abounds.
Seriously folks, composing about the speed of windscreen wipers… Does it effect your racing THAT MUCH that it costs you a race… My mind just boggles at some of the almost absurd claims many hsve about this game…scratches head and sips another brandy…

Oh dear, the fact that you even think this is about realism features clearly shows that you missed the point here entirely.
The observation that the wiper speed is wrong on some of the cars is not a “realism feature request”, it is a statement about an oversight that can be fixed. Especially since the rainfall is static, it would not be terribly conflicting to just generally change the intervals to something fitting. It’s not even close to “hurr durr realism we can’t start our cars and use blinkers”, it doesn’t even relate to that.
Maybe read more into the topic next time?
What’s really disorienting is that I’ve used Rain-X wiper fluid in every car I’ve owned for the last 15+ years, and I only have to use my wipers below 45mph, and even then it’s intermittent.
I have ADD/ADHD. I just use Rain-X, and I just don’t use my wipers.
It’s really bad in the DBR9. Really needs to be a wiper control within this game. Projects cars has it. Forza please it’s the only thing I find annoying.
wiper speed… wow. had no idea such a minor thing that didn’t affect a tune at all could be such a big deal and cause such a ruckus. lol Entertainment value for sure in this thread xD
When the wipers are the only thing allowing you to see the track… Ya it matters. Tune or no tune.

Well I don’t seem to have too much problems. I tend to look through them, much like looking through a wire fence… Just a thought???
Like a wire fence??? Ok… I wish I had your eyes.

The laws of basic physics mate. Your eyes are like the lens in a camera, but much more susceptible to changes in light and the ability to automatically set ‘Depth Of Field’. Whereas in a camera, you have to adjust that.
So using a long lens ( or in humans, viewing something further than several feet away that is small, the camera sees through the wire fencing, and focuses on the object further away.
It’s like when you look through a screen door… Do you just see the screen mean, or, fo you see the yard or person on the other side?
You’ll see the yard or the object on the other side. But your eyes can quickly adjust, and then focus on the actual mesh.
That’s in effect what you do if you only see the rain on the windscreen. You attention is bring drawn yo that, and thus you see it more in focus then you o on the toad ahead.
If you put a camera lens against the Eire on say a chain mail fence, and then focus on the car on the other side, you won’t actually see the piece of wire right in front of the camera lens.
The exact same principle applies with the windscreen and objects I. It, even glare and reflection…to a point of course.
Does that help clarify things a little better?
I drive via Hood View… so I gotta say nope, not an issue.
This whole thing reminds me of when a forum member complained about the position of the wiper being incorrect. About 3 different cars.
…in 3 new, separate threads.
Give it a rest. Ain’t a big deal.
I would like a --add rain x option. That way I wouldn’t need the wipers on.
This wiper speed is such a huge problem. Let’s hope Turn 10 stop fixing all the current glitches and new Content update glitches and fixes this wiper speed issue right away…
