Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed Blizzard Mountain. I found it to be the best Forza expansion ever and in fact, with the addition of some more activities, it could have been a standalone game.
I’m glad you liked it…I didn’t. I did say that I felt it was half baked…not that it was. I’ve had it since release and only played it for a total of 3 hours, haven’t been back to BM in weeks. I’m just not a fan of off-roading. By off roading, I mean FH3 style off roading…i.e. tearing through fences, smashing through cornfields etc while racing.
Acutally Assetto Corsa added only 3 Porsches (Cayenne Turbo S, Panamera Turbo and Macan Turbo - not your usual track cars) for free and, if you want others, you have to pay (3 Porsche packs, each 6.99€; currently there is a bundle also available that will save you 28%). But the game itself (I payed 17.49€ for it + 2 DLCs 17.48€ so far) is a lot cheaper than FH3.
I think all these problems would have been solved if Playground/Turn 10 simply communicated up front what the expansion was in the first place, how silly is it to ask for money up front on a product that might not even exist yet? I actually commend Playground for listening to their fans on many key issues, Forza blueprint to make our own races, fan requested cars, new body kits, but the base map is so poorly designed its really killing the game as a whole and a lot of us are hoping these expansion packs will give us some roads we actually want to drive on.
This thread only has so many views and comments because so many of you bought the pass sight unseen. To be honest, unless you’re an ultimate owner, the pass is not a great deal. You only save five bucks over the cost of two expansions not even knowing what they are. These expansions inevitably go on sale for big discounts. I picked up Storm Island for 5 bucks recently.
The game graphics are amazing but the road network is uninspired. It seems like there is only one or two main routes to get anywhere between the main areas. It would be better if we had a grid of roads to use. Open areas are nice but the offroad driving feels more like Outrun than Dirt or Forza. The Crew has an amazing map. I have completed barely any of the game progression but I cans spend hours just driving around the map to different places that I haven’t been before.
Blueprinting races is great but not being able to blueprint routes is a bit frustrating. Players run Goliath because it is the only track that has lap times in excess of 1:30. Even if we could make races the road network is not interesting enough to make many good ones and the existing races seem like tiny circuits, especially if you blueprint them for many laps.
All I know is that they’d better get crackin’ if they plan on keeping their name in the papers; PCars was just released for free today and I have a feeling that I’m not the only one that’s going to be forgetting about Forza for awhile…
Hey why not get both? I’m going to give Project Cars a chance to see what it is all about and that experience will affect my purchasing decisions later in the year when it comes to FM7 and PC2 and which versions to buy.
Oh for sure. It’s just that for those of us who don’t really have time for two games at once – a list that includes me – my bet is they start going to PCars (I’m sensing quite a lot of “Forza is stale right now” sentiment on these very forums) and will be pretty “oh there’s another Forza Expansion coming? Forgot about that. Maybe I’ll get to it once I’m done with this pretty cool free game I just got.”
It would be nice if you at least knew a general time frame to expect it. It’s been a while since the game’s release. You would expect that the expansion would hit well before E3 where T10’s focus will be on the next Motorsport game leaving Horizon 3 behind. It’s like a year cycle of new content.
FM6 was announced in January at the Detroit Auto Show because the Ford GT was to be its cover car and was being unveiled there.
In 2013, FM5 was announced May 21 at the Xbox One Revealed presentation.
MM is probably more in the know than he lets on, so if he says to “Not let speculation dictate my decision” then I’d wager it’ll be a bit more than just a Porsche car pack. But if it ends up just being a Porsche car pack…
Yes. Wish they’d start talking about the second expansion, I already paid for it, tell me what I get. This is approaching Fallout 4 season pass levels of emberassment. For three months now the expansion pass is being sold and nobody knows what they are getting in return. That’s not a nice way to treat your customers. Blizzard Mountain was a great expansion, so there’s that, but we deserve better than the silent treatment.
We are getting two expansions at a discounted price. That is exactly what the description says. Nowhere does it say they have to tell us EXACTLY what those expansions are at the time of purchase…
