Spec Events

I haven’t seen this mentioned much here yet but I spent most of the past weekend playing Spec Racing and I really want to be hopeful for this mode but some details might bring it down.

Car categories need work. GT1s and Touring Cars are two of the better organized categories and it makes for realistic grids. Maybe I’m just being picky but some categories have a 25 year span of vehicles that look really awkward next to each other on track. In some aspects the career events do a better job making the field look like a real racing series than picking “Sport Touring Classics”. Hoping they have plans to not just stick to the existing categories when building Spec events.

Forced builds kinda suck. Maybe I haven’t played with it enough yet but I didn’t see that I had any control over the build in the Spec lobby. This wouldn’t be that fristrating, but …

The spec builds didn’t seem super competitive. The VW TCR had a 10+ PI index over the Audi, and 16 PI over the Honda and in a decently behaved lobby that pretty much seemed to be how the finishing order ended up.

Small complaints in the grand scheme of all the other fires going on but just my personal grievances. Preformatted text

Some single make cup car series will also be good, this PI thing is broken, in TC series Suburu is in A class not just behind by few points.

If they get a little creative with the categories to make them interesting and have someone keep and eye on the balance between the builds then I can be more than happy with this mode. Maybe add one more series so it’s always GT, TC, and 2 other options.

I’d like to build my car within the spec myself but I can take locked builds if they’re done right and I can tune them to some degree depending on the class.
