Please forgive my furbur, but this will explain why you must implement SLI. Please read.
A very long time ago and perhaps some of you older folks might remember “El Fish”. This was back in the days of Win 3.1 Interestingly enough back then and hands down, this little fish simulator was so far ahead of it’s time, it made everything to that date look like a herd of chunky cows. As a result, it begged the question, why is it so far ahead? I actually was able to contact the maker of this game and this is what he said. “in the Soviet union we don’t have the newest hardware and most of the time we must use older or even outdated hardware. This makes, making software run properly a real challenge.” He went on, “the hardware is only as good as the software that drives it.” He couldn’t have been further from the truth. Even for me, I told Bug Bear (makers of Flatout) years ago, when they asked “what would you like to see in the game” I responded, “I want to fly through the windshield” and ““a game with no options is a GAME with NO OPTIONS”” So yes it was me that made that suggestion to Bug Bear to use ragdolls and yes they put in is plenty of options. My point being, I have made some impact, very little in the grand scheme of things, over the years and I want to tell you, that not implementing SLI into FH4 is a mistake NOW and I stress the word NOW.
The emergence of 21:9 ultra wide monitors is taking a toll on high end systems, These gaming monitors are the future and there is no denying it. By not implementing SLI you are effectively undermining the performance that so many have come to rely on. In fact, you are on the verge of becoming a chunky cow if it has not already done so.
You have such a great product, talented staff and a great vision but unfortunately, it’s just sour grapes for many who expectations were much higher only to be disappointed, like myself.
Personally, I will not spend $4000 on a Titan RTX or even $2000 on a RTX 2080 ti to play your game as a single card solution. Not when my 2x GTX 1080 11g Ti cards in SLI, less than a year old, play everything I have, except FH4, in 21:9 with max details. But seriously, that is only the half of it.
Everybody I know has spend hours or even days tweaking there systems to get every scrap of performance out of there systems because, it’s what they paid for, it’s what they want. It’s such a good game. By not implementing SLI you are effectively robbing these folks, who I might add “pay your wages”, of the performance they spent their hard earned money on.
Like that software developer who clearly understood the realm in which he worked, that addaged works even today as the hardware will be only as good as the software that drives it. Are you folks smart enough to squeeze every once of performance out of the software package? Are you leaders or followers? I challenge you all, from both teams to increase my FPS performance by 50%
Only then will I be able to say, “the hardware is only as good as the software that runs it.” Turn 10 and Playground Studio are the leaders in this field. Right now, I can’t say this with any real conviction.
Thank you for you attention if you made it this far.
