What kind of damage we have in the simulation mode? I asked this in the FH3 facebook group and someone said we can explode the engine due high temperatures, but I never saw something like that in any video whatsoever. Btw, I’m asking because my xbox one didn’t arrived yet and my last forza was the FH1.
The only extreme “limiting factor”, fuel consumption, was removed in an update. Other than that, it’s just tire wear and body/engine damage. You can’t “blow up” the engine but you can damage it to 100%. You don’t have to pay for any new parts to replace any that are broken but it does add a level of challenge to almost every race.
I’ve found that some of the buggies with extremely high ride height and are the only vehicles to get around some of the cross-country courses in one piece! Even the Nomad bottoms out on some of the jumps though.
The above is very true. I never run sim damage on any offroad races, whether it’s cross country or just mixed surface. The huge jumps and (often generously placed) obstacles pose too much danger. For me, it’s best to use sim damage only for road races that aren’t too lengthy (namely because of tire wear). And I’d also recommend never using sim damage on Blizzard Mountain.
l played this game pretty far in with full sim damage but the off-road races started to beat my ass. Cars were creeping after a few jumps but not the Drivatars’ cars. So turned it off.
Maybe with proper suspension settings and rollcage(?) you can make cars survive the races. But as evidence by fuel wear being removed l think the whole damage model is bit of an oversight in Horizon just brought in from Motorsport.
If you dare to play online - especially in playground game lobbies - be sure you have it switched off. Few things are as frustrating as being the only one in the room subject to a steep performance drop-off after a collision. While you may not necessarily be able to blow up the engine, I believe that sufficient damage to the transmission/driveline can cause you to lose drive, and you can certainly experience enough impediment through suspension misalignment and power loss to lose your competitiveness.
I’m all about simulation damage, but honestly the fact that this game forces you to do completely asinine feats (jumps off of cliffs and such) while not penalizing the AI completely ruins it for me. I do simulation in only road circuits and sprints and even then you have to be careful from the overly aggressive AI that experience no consequences. Also forget about having simulation damage on anything online. I swear it’s a bunch of talentless bumper car having kids that play this game. It’s a shame really. I love motorsport, but I love taking my tuned cars off the track and seeing what they do on the street, but this game has gone too overboard and blanketed too much of an audience without focusing on the core tried and true audience.
Yes, it does bother me how the instant online feature that replaced lobbies in FH2 also deprecated global difficulty settings. Now you have to be in co op to have that enabled.
