So ive saved 2 replays from 2 of my multiplayer wins, waited until it said replay save successful before even thinking of exiting, but then when ive gone to view either of them, its just cars endlessly idling on the starting grid with the crowd waving. No input gets an actual replay of the race. 0 for 2. Great. Am i missing something?
This game has been bad experience after bad experience after bad experience. The AI drivers seem to be drivatars … meaning they cant drive. Swerving, missing corners, hitting each other on purpose, hitting me on purpose. Reminds me of FH5 except that now Im getting penalties for incidents 100% caused by drivatars, or me leaving the track to avoid their slop. In my first race, the mess of drivatars slowed down to under 15 mph in a 70+ mph curve. Super frustrating. At least we can choose to start near the front and let drivatar slop happen behind. Then theres multiplayer. First race i started P2 and immediately set sail and won. Ok. 2nd race, got completely punted across the track and off the track in turn 1 … way more than a tap … i ended up in 12th place (last) about 6 seconds behind 11th. Zero penalty given. Later in the race i was in 5th, lightly bump drafted once on a long straight which helped out the driver in front … i get a 1.5 sec penalty. Uh, Ok. Bump drafting bad, completely corner bombing A-OK apparently.
I figure maybe that was an outlier. Tried a few more. Had a race where i had a driver behind me for a couple laps. Not on my bumper, but in the picture. Come last lap, he decides to not break at all to cornerbomb me. Succeeded in punting me across 30 feet of asphalt and through 20 feet of grass … no penalties awarded. Awesome. Many other races were ramfests, minimal penalties were awarded and didnt factor at all in the finishing position once. Im not here for that. And since i drive in the behind the wheel cam, im largely at other peoples mercy when in turns into bumper cars.
That kind of mess is not fun to me. If im objective about the game and try to consider what others may like about the game, id give FM23 a B … maybe a B minus. But, personally, i hate this game with a passion. Im not here for that kind of driving, and whether single player or multiplayer, i cant seem to get much real racing even when my safety rating is S.
Oh yeah, safety rating. I had mine drop to A in a practice. Fun story, driver was wayyyy behind coming into a 90 degree turn, decided to not slow down a rear end me at about 130 mph. It sent me wayyyyyy off track and into an infield road. I rejoined the track but apparently having majorly cut the corner to the tune of a 4 or 5 second penalty. Finished the actual race with no penalties but my safety rating dropped from S to A. Awesome.
Yeah, im not going to be playing this much. I really like to drive, which is why i own FH5 and FM23, but these are the only 2 games that ive ever played that consistently have me hotter than the center of the Sun. Deuces.
