I swear, this thing simply does not want to turn corners unless it’s doing less than 50mps. I upgraded its handling and if I’m doing 80 and attempt to break and turn at the same time it literally goes straight ahead until it hits something or comes to a near dead stop. On the first rally race I simply could not get this thing to stay on the track unless I kept it under 60mps. Now, I wanted to switch out of this car for the street racing but the game refuses to allow this so I’m stuck crawling around the track while attempting to avoid spinning off into the hedgerows. In the demo I used the Subaru and it was fantastic, I loved how it handled but this Lancia is absolutely infuriating!
It’s kind of odd, because most of the feedback I’ve heard from Lancia fans is that the 037 is great. I just ran a bunch of level 7-9 dirt races in it, after using my Subie rally car for a while. It’s a really different animal from a Subaru; it’s a wild ride as opposed to a Subie, mostly because the Lancia is RWD. But I had no problem tearing around corners, once I got the hang of it.
Blasphemy. I can’t have you talking bad about such a spectacular car, so here’s a gold nuggget for you:
AWD, Race aero on both ends, Widest rear tires, Race tires, race diff, race springs, race anti-roll bars front and back, race weight reduction.
Then add all the power you can until you reach S1 900 with either the I6 or rally engine. I don’t know which is better yet … your choice.
Then go to tuning …
29.0 psi front and back.
Final drive is probably good, but if not, only change by 10% increments. If starts at 3.70, then have it 3.33 or 2.96 or 4.07 or 4.44. If it starts at 4.10, it could be 3.69 or 3.28 or 4.52.
Front and rear camber at -5.0
Toe front and rear 0.0
Caster angle at 5.0
Anti-roll front around 6.00 … back around 16.00
Front springs about 2/3 to the right, rear springs about 15% - 20% stiffer … maybe try 850/1000 on this car.
Ride height as low as it goes on both ends
Rebound stiffness 12.2/12.2
Bump 5.4/5.4
Max downforce on both ends.
Front diff 28 and 0 … that 28 for front diff acceleration is a magic number
Rear diff 80 and 75
Try balance at 58%
There are formulas to get some of these numbers exact, but as-is this will drive well, beat unbeatable drivatars, and be able to be in the top 1% of the top 1% of people in this car … when in the right hands.
Yes! And for the Stratos, you can get the widebody kit like on FH3’s '75 Rally Monster – but it’s just a widebody kit, so you can still have fun constantly spinning out your tiny tiny car in Retro Rally.
That’s Forza Horizon, though. You can build and tune it to be leaderboard fast and a multiplayer winner, and that REQUIRES AWD, or you can leave the character in the car and have problems beating people and avatars alike. I myself have two 037’s … one AWD for competition, and one RWD for recreation.
Naw, I know.. I do the same thing. Was just teasing, tho’ of course that is always tough in text. Heck, my favorite car in FH3 was an AWD S1 supercharged Rally Fighter – which is staggeringly impossible IRL.
Fortunately you only need to use the Lancia in what, three races? Before the Autoshow opens and you can use whatever. You don’t need to win the races either.
You don’t have to wait for the Autoshow to open, in my experience. Just drive to the Festival and switch to one of the other cars in your garage. You should at least have the other starter car to switch to, if nothing else.
This car handles like a dream. You might want to develop your skills.
The 037 was one of the many pleasant rebalancing measures taken by Playground. No longer stuck into the Rally Monsters group, now it can shine in Retro Rally, even in its purest form: RWD.
I had fun in it. it is rear wheel drive only not AWD like i think the other options were
but then I picked it because i dont want to drive subaru and the ford didnt appeal (so sad mitsubishi couldnt be licensed feels weird not having my evo)
