I was playing earlier today and all was fine (aside from the bugs) and the game crashed while in a multiplayer lobby after a race. This has happened before but I could always just re-launch the game and go a little while longer until the next crash.
Now, when I open the game it shows the splash screen and then crashes after about a second. What’s the deal?
UPDATE
it came as no surprise that after redownloading the entire game it works again. shocker.
It’s really a sad state of affairs when the only game on my PC that’s an unstable mess is from Microsoft Studios. If anyone should have a rock-solid game on Microsoft Windows, it’s them.
It is sad indeed. I have nearly 100 games on my PC, and non has given me trouble, except for Horizon 3 (not even remotely as bad as FM7) and, of course, Forza 7. Games that bare the same name as the OS they are meant to be played on.
Saddest (more like laughable and downright insulting) thing is when tech support likes to passively hint that the problem might be on your end.
I just did a clean uninstall of my nvidia drivers, reinstalled the latest and uninstalled FM7. Re-downloading it now so hopefully that will maybe fix it.
if it is the same issue as for many other players including me, then you probably dont have to redownload the whole game. you should be able to only uninstall and reinstall the Car pack DLC for game to start working. Problem lies in DRM. DRM thinks you dont own the game, so it closes it. Reinstalling one of the DLCs from the windows store, will reinstate your ownership of the game. Howewer, this problem will most likely repeat it self. So I would not recommend redownloading whole game. Turn 10 or Microsoft have not acknowledged this problem even. it feels like a rip off
