Hey guys, so i’m not that great with tuning so like so many others i tried my hand at the forzatune 5 app. So far its giving me a good base design and making tweaking a lot easier. However, I’ve run into a few problems (and a nifty tip).
Forza 5 as we know has been dumbed down when it comes to getting specs compared to forza 4, so to get the neccessary info to use the forzatune app we need to look at the upgrades, but some cars (Lotus E21 or the Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2) are very limited in what can be upgraded, making getting things like Peak RPM or tiresizes a bit more difficult.
Firstly, Tiresize, for those that dont know, can still be gotten by taking your car in to Forzavista, from here check each of the tires, one will have an INFO option, when clicked it will go through a bunch of fancy camera angles before showing you a diagram with tire width, wheel size and brake size (by memory). I don’t think it gives the entire wheel sizes but it at least gives width to be able to do the handling tune with forzatune.
My issue however, is finding the RPM, as most have said, there is graphs when in the upgrades menu, but the scuderia ferrari i want to tune does not have any engine upgrades available so i can not get this graph. Ive looked around and seen others mentioning the more accurate way of getting a reading by screaming down a straight in a high gear and watcching the telemetry but noone really explains what values im looking out for.
As far as I can tell the REDLINE RPM is the RPM shown when the car is redlining, in the ferrari’s case this is around 13000RPM, but where do I get the Peak Torque RPM? and when am I supposed to look out for it? if anyone could ppossibly clear this up for me it’d greatly appreciated it.
Just after some clarification on these values and how to get them as my web searching so far is finding only vague answers from people who know much more about this than I.
It’s your rpm at the point at which your torque is at it’s highest so…
1)Go to the mile.
2)Pop up the first page if telemetry
3)Set off in a high gear(slow acceleration)
4)Note the highest torque figure you reach before it starts dropping and stop
5)Do it again but now note the rpm figure when the torque reaches the value you noted in step 4.
6) your final figure should be a couple of hundred less than step 5.
That’s your peak rpm and you have get creative with redline and peak rpm with the rally engine. I set redline to 5000 when doing those.
Just like what ToOSk3tChY said Do all those steps very fast simple and accurate way of doing it!
Also another little trick I do is at the end of the run I say XBOX record that! Why ? well that way I can go to the recording pause it rewind it…you get the picture. So I can get the most accurate numbers
Cheers for the reply, that makes much more sense than other explanations ive seen that basically say to do the same method but then just say “and then just copy the values over” without explaining which values to keep an eye out for.
Anyway, I just wanted to make sure ive done this right, even though ive decided I dont particularly like this car itd be good to know that im going in to future builds with correct methods.
Ideally, if someone could check my figures by testing themselves then that would be much appreciated, its a stock build, no upgrades and i hadnt changed the gearing only some minor handling adjustments (spring softness, ARB etc)
The redline RPM i measured at a little over 12000 RPM which was then confrimed by the ferrari website (12200RPM). Not too many dramas there.
The Peak Torque RPM: The torque went to 320 before it began to drop again. So I then read the RPM when the torque is equal to 320? is that correct? this resulted in approx 8000RPM for me over a few runs (didnt do the replay idea as I only just read that now but good idea).
If anyone can check that for me just so I know if i’ve done it correctly that would be greatly appreciated.
The build is the STOCK Ferarri Scuderia 312 T2, no gearing adjustments, tire pressure both set to 1.9 if that makes any difference.
I’d gift you a car or offer something but theres unfortunately no option for anything like that on forza (would be good to have credit transfers for such cases, people could earn their way to new cars by helping others out), perhaps the first person to check my results i can go on and try a few of their tunes and give them a few likes if their any good?
The build is stock, no upgrades at all, ferarri scuderia 312 T2. The 1970 grandprix only allows stock build but most parts are adjusteable anyway. I can’t send the tune cos I’ve gone and tried to change it just by feel instead and have it running much better for my preferences. I’ll try the tuning app again with another car I think (something with a smoother powerband) and will use your methods to get a more accurate reading on the rpm, at least with another car I can check the graphs for refference, can’t do it with the ferarri as there’s no engine upgrades available. Thanks for all your help though, your welcome to try out my tune though, title was : Stock tune 2 and it’s for the ferarri scuderia, let me know what you think and if it feels ok to you. Haven’t done any fine tuning and could probably get more speed out of it but I managed to reduce the ridiculous wheelspin coming out of corners. Cheers, won’t be in game til tommorrow arvo.
