I did a race and I felt completely cheated. I got screwed over by penalties but i did the maths and I should of beat that guy that beat me on penalties.
It was ABC’s a 20min timed race at silverstone full.
I racked up 0.080 MI pentaly, beat the guy by 3.5 seconds and somehow that’s more than 0.080MI?
I did the maths and at my lap time around the track was a 2:20.4 adds to 41.7m/s.
0.08 MI is 128meters. I was 3.5 seconds ahead at 41.7m/s. How ?
Timed racess definitely need some kind of overhaul with timed penalties, lap and race timers instead of feet counter (how is it even useful?) and an option of last lap finish where you have to cross the line after time runs out.
On finish screen u see how much distance everyone made in race and penalties are “added” to distance not time difference.
I know it’s extreme example, but if for eg u beat up someone on le mans by 3.5s, but ended up race after corner, but oponent was still on long straight before 90’ corner then distance difference will be significantly lower. Than if for eg u finished race at end of straight, while oponent was just going out of corner into straight.
Tho tbh in most cases distance penalties are… Not punishing enough.
Another thing to remember is that the distance travelled is from your starting point, not from the start/finish line. I’ve had races where the guy in front of me on the track was behind me on the live leaderboard (no penalties, mid-race) because I had started further back on the grid. Shades of Le Mans '66 anyone?
