I’m at work (lunch) so I can’t check this, but just thinking about it.
On a car I buy from the auction that I like the paint and/or tune on, can I save that tune (or paint) to my designs, my tune files so that I can load them back later?
What got me thinking about it is I have a car with a great design and tune on it for circuits that I’d like to build a drag tune for it too and not lose the current tune forever. I could just build another car as a drag car, but I love the paint on this one and would like it to be able to pull double duty.
Sorry, if it’s a car you bought in the AH, then no it’s not possible to do what you’re suggesting. An AH car is just that, one car, unlike a SF bought file.
You could remove the tune if it’s not to your liking and have the car with paint on it still, or conversely remove the paint and keep the tune on the car - but you can’t get either back if you do and you only have the copy of each that was on that car.
If you like the paint, might be worth contacting the painter to see if they’re willing to either put the paint in the SF or sell you another copy without the tune via the AH - so that you can apply your other tune to the second car.
May depend on the artist, just don’t ask for anything unlocked and you might be surprised at how helpful some of them/ us can be.
Cheers

Just went ahead and removed the tune, that way I can make multiple tunes for it.
Thank you.
For others concerned about this sort of thing as well, it should be pointed out that you may still be able to find the paint jobs and tunes available from the storefront of whoever sold you a car.
With cars that have gone through more than two owners, tracking down the one responsible for the paint scheme or tune may be difficult, as the original owner probably wasn’t the one responsible for that work, but for those that have seen only two owners—the original one and then yourself—it should be easy, so long as the seller does have the paint job and/or tune on their storefront. If these items aren’t on their storefront, a message sent to them in a good manner may be all it takes to secure the files you want, as DM mentioned.
