Purchasable Houses

We finally got our own purchasable properties. We will have to see what that entails when more info is released. I wasn’t expecting the UK but I am hyped after this trailer!!!

From the website:

· Collect Over 450 Cars and Customize Your Horizon Life – With over 450 cars from more than 100 licensed manufacturers, Forza Horizon 4 features the largest and most diverse Horizon car roster yet with all the customization options Forza players love, like new Drift Suspension upgrades and driver personalization with character clothing, accessories and emotes. And for the first time in the Horizon series, players can own property that unlocks new items and gameplay perks.

I wonder if you can get better properties kinda like grand theft auto if you can unlock items and perks. It would be a great way to use CR

I sure hope so that would make the game so much more immersive!!

A TDU element making its way to a Forza game

Nice

That was my immediate thought. Makes me want to dust off my copy of TDU2.

YES! That was a great game, now I want to do that too.

Has me wondering if the servers are still online??

they are indeed I still play quite regular I even fired up TDU1 to play the other day just to have a go in my noble M12

the TDU forums disappeared a long time ago though when Atari pulled the plug on EDEN

fyi TDU3 is supposed to be in the making by another studio…

Q: Hey Ralph, will there be a list of the houses in FH4 w/ in the future before release?
A: Almost certainly.^

He stated that Auction House returns but didn’t know of any plans to include properties in it.

Thanks for the info.

How do you not know of the plans and decisions your own company makes? Honestly, is there that much of a disconnect between the guys at the top and bottom? A minor thing under discussion here in the grand scheme of the game, but still.

I don’t think they would be, as I believe they’re just used for collection as opposed to a GTA-style choosing houses and apartments (it’ll be basically like TDU2, everyone can buy the exact same houses), evidenced by the fact that there’s a progress bar for “Houses Owned”. You can use the AH for cars that you missed from events, can snag or deal on, or are painted and/or tuned by top painters and/or tuners, but the houses would be the exact same. They’ll just be used as a credit dump.*

*Obviously I have no more experience with this than anyone else here, but it’s a logical inference.

Or he could’ve been saying he doesn’t know of any because there aren’t any. I doubt he’s ignorant to the decisions.

It’s a non-committal answer. That way he doesn’t say “yes” and risk backlash if it doesn’t work out, but he also doesn’t say “no” and lose credibility if it is added later.

Auctioning properties would just be weird anyway. It would be like auctioning cars except they’re all stock and without paints or tuning.

This is a feature I’d like to know more about, specifically what the perks would actually be? Is it similar to the perks in FH3, just tied to a specific property? Or is it more thematic, like owning a garage gives you permanent price reductions on upgrade parts?

Looks like there will be 10 Purchasable properties

Them progress bars are a bit whack. Were they filling in gradually in the video? Good spotting either way! But it does make it seem like just another bar to fill, rather than personalisation. After a while we will all just own every house. I guess we are still not quite playing an MMO where our characters specialise. That said, tank, dps, and healer cars taking on huge bosses suddenly sounds quite interesting!

Re auction house, I wonder if that is one that we can buy lol.

A part of me really wants the auction house to be an actual auction house, as in you drive to a building where the auctions take place and the cars roll up and there’s some user interface with the highest bidder and some NPC talking about the car and our personal characters ‘bidding’ etc. However the other part does think this is something a bit tedious

Starting to think it may be the new way of getting skills/perks. Like the more you buy, better places, better things you get.

I think houses are just re-skinned festival sites.

Meaning that we see one car in garage, other cars are behind menus. And we can’t walk around in houses.

So I’m pretty sure we will have nothing like in TDU.
