As with everything in this game, the translation was made in the laziest way possible.
You want to know how I know it?
“wet tyre” is translated literally as “pneu molhado”, which means “the tyre is wet”.
“medium tyre” is translated as “pneu médio”
“hard tyre” is translated as “pneu difícil”, which means “this tyre is hard to use”.
And to be fair, is this was the worst problem of the game, I wouldn’t even mind, but when the company never even offered a regional price and forced everyone in Brazil to pay the same value in dollars, I do care that they were this lazy.
As with everything connected to microsoft recently, it just shows the company and all its affiliates are happy to put out trash products.

The german version is also a bit weird about the tyres. The soft ones first were called soft just like in english, but then they changed it to “Weich” that means soft in german. But now the symbol that shows what tyres are used is wrong. Before it was S for soft now it’s still S but it’s “Weich” but “W” is the symbol for the wet tyres. They should change the “W” symbol to “R” now for “Regenreifen” what means raintyres.
They should have just kept their fingers off it and let soft tyres be soft tyres. 
I tell you something, Rockstar Games has the best translations i ever seen in any videogame. I wish every studio would put so much effort into it like they do.
