Proper way to shift with manual/clutch?

Ok so most of us know manual/clutch is the best rpm transmission setting. The way I shift is I go past the red line as much as I can before the car stutters, then shift, to get max rpm. However others have told me that you shift before or right about when you touch the red line, and to never go past it. What’s the proper way to do it?

Depends on your car engine and transmission setup. Some engines start falling off the power band after red line while others roughly keep the same. Open the telemetry while driving and watch the hp at different rpm levels. Transmission adjustments also help.

Also, every time you hit the limiter you’re no longer accelerating so try to change just before you hit it.

Depends on your car’s engine torque, shift on the top of the engine torque curve

One Refort knows what he/she is talking about.

Same question in 2 different forum section? Anyhow, same as I said in the other place

I was thinking about linking to this earlier today in reply to the original OP. A very good explanation. I wish the game would produce the relevant graphs in the tuning section for this. As it stands I might need to do what I saw another in the forums do and produce my own graphs by recording the telemetry. A very slow and time consuming process but interesting all the same.
