Possible workaround on PC when FH 5 refuses to start

Of course it isn’t Nvidia related. I had a Asus Strix RX480 8 GB card before and now have a ASRock Callenger RX6800 Pro 16 GB.

I reïnstalled Windows 11 3 days back and now i got Forza Horizon 5 downloaded again. Before me reïsntall (Windows 10) the game would start up within seconds but now it takes long and there’s even a chance that the proces just completely disappears after the splash screen. At first i was thinking it was something on my PC but reading this topic it seems to be a actual game issue. I really hope this will be fixed “soon”.

What you’re saying sounds very close to what was described in a reddit thread which I found where the solution was to manually create an exception for Horizon.exe from my Game drive (and any other location I find it) after an update caused the game to crap out exactly as you describe. It’s like whatever happened created the first exception for the stuff on the system drive, but didn’t do it if it was running from a drive other than system.

The game would die exactly as you say… and I could watch it in Task Manger. I think the game was timing out and dumping because it never got a satisfactory reply from the initial scan because Defender won’t let it load through fully due to the missing second exception.

…or something like that… YMMV… but Yes I tend to agree over all… The game actually runs in a virtual machine and this itself has caused quite a few fun bugs with how Windows treats permissions and how it allows things running in VM’s to have control over hardware not technically installed in the VM.

With newest update game won’t start without multiple clicking on play button on my new desktop.
So now its 2 out of 3 PC’s for me with this.
Garbage.

Latest update seems to have fixed this issue for me. No more idiotic icon-clicking required.

Best of luck to everyone, that this applies to you as well.

I’m glad they finally fixed it.

It takes me about half of that from clicking until the car parks in front of the house and my system really isn’t the best around.

My [i7/nVidia rtx 2080] system is over five years old except for the SSD, but installing FH5 on that SSD cured LSB completely, and starting the game takes less than half the time it takes yours. I haven’t turned off anything. I don’t know if that info can help you, but I suspect you’ve got an undiagnosed, maybe fixable, issue.

July 2024 im encountering this problem tried everything mentioned above but none of them works bought game pass to play fh5 but first loeding screen pass and second one my game crashes i dont find the c++ task in task manager. game is unplayable

August 2024 still getting the issue, thats been over a year now and theres been a few updates for the game… and even more for my pc… i have tried everything.

Factory reset the pc, updated bois, changed hardware, deleted and redownloaded the game several times done everything every forum has said to do yet it still doesnt work…

At this rate we might get horizon 6 or even gta 6 before Microsoft sort this game out

I have done all of the steps and followed youtube videos and still for over a year haven’t been able to play this game. Asked for money back a year ago and still nothing. Apparently this game isn’t for PC and is a complete joke.
