PLEASE explain to me

PLEASE explain to me, WHAT IS THE POINT of a limo in Forza MOTORSPORT? The same with OFF-ROAD vehicles? …and how about VANS and Trucks? WHEN were Willys Jeeps EVER raced? (apart from against each other in the field or around the barracks, whilst the Drill Sergeant wasn’t looking?) I am SERIOUSLY BAFFLED! The variety of vehicles in public lobbies is becoming A HAZARD to the safety of those vehicles genuinely there to race against LIKE TYPE VEHICLES on a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD! Public lobbies have become an exercise in SURVIVAL rather than Competition. I am a compulsive racer, but this latest iteration of Forza has be CONFUSED, FRUSTRATED, ANGRY, DEPRESSED, and SAD.

PLEASE EXPLAIN all this to me! - “A Forza Faithful”

You can’t even use most of those novelty vehicles in hoppers, what are you even on about?

Additionally, no need to post this twice.

You are everything that is wrong with gaming.

“Oh its just a game bro oh ysosrs bro”

So being good at something is frowned upon?

Some people take enjoyment from driving different cars just giving it a go etc.

People such as myself enjoy winning, we arnt playing to screw around we arnt playing to come second.

Perhaps if you put the practise and effort in youd reach the same level and understand. probably not though. i imagine you’re one of these people that cant use the right stick or even a track map to go oh hey ive crashed i wont screw up somebody else because of my mistake…

nahhhh ill just pull back on and when that person gets pissed off ill go “its just a game bro”

We play games to win. you can be a crappy driver, as long as you are having fun good on you man!

However, if you make a mistake it isnt fair to plead ignorance and screw up somebody else trying to actually play the game properly.

I’ll give an honest reply for me - since I obviously can’t speak for others.

I like the variety. I like taking off-beat cars out for a spin, or trying them out in single-make races or within their class. Part of what appeals to me about this genre of videogames is that I can drive cars I would never have the opportunity to drive in real life. That being said, the appeal of this aspect isn’t limited to just high performance vehicles. I enjoy racing Ferraris, Maseratis, GT3s, F1s, IndyCars, etc. - but I also like taking the Limo and/or some of the other “oddballs” for a spin as well.

I think that’s a really great question. And to think, if you replaced all of those vehicles with race cars, muscle cars, sports cars etc, etc.

Who knows? why does GT6 have a moon buggy and other pointless vehicles. Some obviously find it a bit of fun…each to his/her own i guess.

All well and good until some troll takes his limo in a drift lobby on rio and then rips the e brake blocking the entire track…

Then, block, report and move on. Whether its a limo, a truck, or an ordinary automobile, those looking to spoil the fun of others will do so no matter the means. Crashers were nothing new before vehicles like the limo came to Forza and crashers will still be around well after those vehicles are gone from the series.

If you play in the public lobbies, you’re subject to the public’s antics. That’s just the way it is and the way it will always be. Don’t like it? Build a friends list of like-minded racers and create your own private lobbies.

It still amazes me when people come to this forum with the expectation that everybody is playing Forza for the same reasons they are and fail to use the tools given to them to avoid the problem. Of course, the real problem is that these “serious gamers” appear to have serious issue coming together to enjoy the game amongst themselves.

like in forza 4 where people could join i could meet like minded drivers. and kick out idiots.?

Yeah that was great… if only it was in forza 6… but it isnt so how do you suppose i meet these like minded gamers when the game wont let me host a public session.

Well, the Racers’ Lounge is a good start. Another good avenue is as simple as befriending racers on the leaderboards who frequently fall close to your lap times. When they friend you back, arrange some racing.

Really, it doesn’t take much. I streamed Forza for a few months and, within a couple short weeks, had plenty of people ready to race cleanly for hours on end, sometimes for one- or two-hour endurance stints. Anybody, and I repeat anybody, who comes to this forum complaining about the quality of gaming in the public lobbies without showing any effort to pair up with others is taking the easy route, placing blame on inanimate pixels and the developers for the actions of people who are simply doing what people do … acting differently from one another.

Astonishingly, hundreds of threads will be created and dozens of different people will chime in to voice their displeasure of the state of public lobbies; but, how many within those conversations do you think follow-up with friend requests to those who express the very same thoughts in those threads? Instead, they all mope, expecting that some day there will be magical cure-all and, sure as the sun shines, the cycle continues with the next thread. Case in point: look at how many threads go unanswered or rarely replied to in the Racers’ Lounge with people (likely clean drivers) looking for others to race with – this one for example. Yet, check out all of the complaints found here.

Simply put: a gamer’s inability to pair up with other, like-minded players isn’t a game issue, it isn’t a developer issue, it isn’t a console issue, hell it isn’t even a generational issue; it is flat-out that gamer’s social ineptness or unwillingness to be a person of action that brings them to the point we see in the original post.

So, now what’s the excuse?

Perhaps by scrolling through the racers lounge tab and finding a group that’s right for you and signing up. They give you the tools you just have to use them

WELL, again, it seems the point of this post has been lost in the mire of indifference!

My point is that these “novelty vehicles” DETRACT from the racing atmosphere on the grid! These contraptions should be restricted to the HORIZON games, where “going for a drive” doesn’t frustrate the other “racers” on the track. “A bit of fun” to some people CAN AND IS taken as a lack of respect for the other players, where things like “RACE CRAFT” and GENUINE COMPETITION are goals within themselves.

Once again, what you see as a detraction I see as an opportunity. 99% of my gaming is done offline, so I’m not a “frustration” to others. If I actually like to drive these “novelty vehicles” to see how they feel different from other cars, if I actually like to drive these “novelty vehicles” as a challenge to myself to see if my RACE CRAFT can handle switching between traditional racing cars and a Limo, or seek the GENUINE COMPETITION within myself to see if I can get the “novelty vehicle” around a place like Long Beach with a decent lap time, then who are you to tell Turn 10 that they shouldn’t let me experience that?

It’s one thing to say these things are useless to you and that you’re annoyed by them in some online competition. I get it. It’s a personal opinion. However, it’s another thing to tell all of us that YOU don’t think that the rest of us should have these at all.

Indifference is a valid opinion on things. So; how would you feel if someone told T10 to remove all of those silly BTCC cars and replace them with Funny Car Dragsters? Or take out the GT3/GTE cars and put in s13’s? Different people find different things fun. You’re not god; nor the sole member of the target audience; stop acting as though you are, please.

Personally I think excessive use of capitalized words shows a lack of respect for reader eyes.

Video games offer players the fantasy of running cars in ways they can’t normally do in real life, such as the ability to race NASCARS against GT and other racing classes in the new expansion.

“Turning gamers into car lovers and car lovers into gamers” is a mantra that extends beyond just racing spec, and that’s reflected by the overwhelming number of requests for production cars in the FM6 Car Wishlist over race spec cars. I’d argue that the ability to use cars in unconventional settings is what has created plenty of “Forza Faithful” other than yourself.

As noted above, most of the oddball cars can’t be used online, and you always have the ability to create your own private lobby if you don’t want to see offending car models. There’s a Leagues Request thread at the top of the forum available for you to request race-only leagues if you like.

Because variety is good. Many people like the Limo, etc, many don’t. T10 cannot please everyone. It’s also a laugh - I’ve taken the liberty of providing you with a definition of “fun”:

“Fun” (fʌn)
noun

  1. Enjoyment, amusement, or light-hearted pleasure.
“the children were having fun in the play area”

This thread. Pointless. Moaning, complaining, whining, whinging, whatever synonym you see fit, gets you less distance than £1/ $1 in a Dodge Challenger’s fuel tank. These threads creating this ideal racing simulator always end in fizzling out or being locked. The franchise is not perfect, the game is not perfect, perfection does not exist anywhere. There have been endless threads about these cars, and it’s getting somewhat dull.

If you don’t like them, don’t use them and move on.

The perfect forza franchise would have 0 trucks, vans, oddball cars, limos etc and instead would leave sports cars, exotics, and race cars of all kinds for the motorsport franchise. In return the horizon franchise could make do with those trucks and oddballs as well as production cars and some sports cars. That would make a whole bunch of more sense to me and hoping thats the direction they will go for the next iterations.

I dont find odd vehicles in the game particularly offensive as I don’t own any much less drive them but I don’t begrudge anyone that does want to. They paid the same as me so they can do what they want with whats available.

What I do find offensive is seeing a Willys jeep dominating any Leaderboard unless its just a LB for those odd cars that don’t fall into any particular class, like a VW van. Never ever happen in real life and can only be attributed to either a glitch or just flat lazy programming on T10’s part.

They have these oddball cars because they are different than what most racing games have and allow you to have fun and amazing races. For example FailRace knows how fun it is to race these vehicles. Forza Motorsport 6 Challenge The Slowest Of Races - YouTube
