I guess it makes sense that way… If there was a good player base. People are dropping off left and right due to the terrible hoppers. The leagues are a big failure to curb the problem, in my eyes.
I don’t play online much because of life schedule. Meaning my little time is too valuable to waste on crashers and server issues. I can never get online or get booted in the middle of a race. The most races I ran without losing connection is 5. I’m not sure their servers could handle a significant increase in racers anyways. And my opinion is they put all their eggs in the league basket. Don’t see them making any changes that would potentially take more people away from their master creation. Just my opinion
Well were at it can we get a real c class hopper. Turn 10 hello anybody out there hello…
One problem I would see with more ghost lobbies is that there are far more corner cutters than intentional wreckers in the game.
I would rather deal with a few mishaps than race with a bunch of people creating their own track like Mario cart.
A few mishaps…
There is just as many corner cutters in collision lobbys, but know the ually run into you coming back on the track.
I have not, and probably will not touch leagues, because it is a direct and specific investment of my time, they seem scheduled, and frankly a chore. I do not let any video game become something i am repsosible for doing. I have a family and a job already.
I just want to hop in a race when I want to and have some good ol fun. I am not interested in my score, points, or how much better I stack up to others.
All leagues do, in my opinion is add a competitive aspect and a race for points, which leads to asome of that bad mentality that we all are aware of in gaming online.
It’s an option for those who want it, but I’m all for anything casual, no strings attached, enter a lobby and just kick off my shoes and have some fun.
EDIT: you all are making some seriously good points in this thread. I agree with most if not all of it.
Ghost racing is the majority of what I do in Forza, so I would love to see some more classes available. Aside from avoiding intentional crashers, I don’t have to worry about my sometimes flaky internet connection causing lag crashes. People here keep saying it’s not “real” racing, well neither is a car teleporting 10 meters in every direction every half second.
I look at ghost racing like doing rally stages, except you get to see the times your opponents are setting while you do it. All of the closest races I’ve had (2-4 cars within a few thousandths of a second at the finish line) have been in ghost races. More ghost lobbies please.
I don’t agree with more ghost lobbies but I do have a great alternative idea!
First of all add another lap to the tracks that need it. IE road America, silver stone, Sebring, etc (the ring too please in b class
Then add another lap to EVERY track and make the first lap a ghost lap.
When racers cross the finish line onto lap two the car solidifies and it becomes a real race!
This solves: off the line destruction caused by drivetrain differences, tune/build differences EX FWD launch vs AWD and speed vs accelerate tunes etc etc
This also solves first corner chaos, and will hopefully deter crashers from committing to an entire race of destruction. If they have to do an entire lap in their POS tunes just to crash people, I think they’d be less likely!
This creates: A much more entertaining lobby where people are not fighting for position with people who are not on the same pace.
OR alternatively Create separate Pinnacle and Elite public lobbies, and then merge the lower classes into the regular public b class lobby!
Not a 1/2 bad idea really. I don’t like ghost racing because its not racing; its hot lapping. Racing requires you to adapt to those running around you. At times the premium line is gone and you have to think on your feet to get around the corner. Sometimes, GASP, slowing down and allowing the other car through is what is required. Worst thing is being courteous (missing a brake point) and letting a hot corner fly by go by only to be taken out by them when they fly off the course and then panic to get back on and wipe you out. Which is why I like the idea of four tires off get you ghosted for a moment but you get slowed down too and certain physics come into play as in the real world you you do a full off.
There is no easy answer but seems like CPL’s were something I liked. I could hop in, run a race. If I was competitive I would stay. If it was a bunch of flakes I could leave and if I was out classed I could try to be a back marker but usually left because I was getting schpanked. LOL! But like posted above I can’t run all the time all week. Kids, job, sports, coaching…etc…etc. Just not realistic to expect an end user to dedicate that time. And online users are probably drying up because the die hards are getting more and more frustrated with the changes in the game and the fly by nights play about 10 seconds before flitting off to play another game.
Just my useless and non-valued .02.
I usually prefer the non ghost leagues, but having great fun this week in the S class ghost league. Yes the corner cutters frustrates me, but most of them ends up in the sand/barriers after a lap or two, so I just ignore them and focus on what I’m doing. Reading some of the posts here seems that I have luck on my side as for most of this week I raced in lobbies with very seldom less than 20 players. Only downside to the leagues for me are the disconnects, but I’ve learned to take the good with the bad. Overall I really enjoy the leagues and connecting with some of the guys.
Of course ghost races are no substitute for clean normal races, but at least it’s something. And it’s fair. The leagues are a nice addition, but no solution since you can get wrecked easily in leagues, too. The wreckers are everywhere. Turn 10 have to do something.
Everyone knows that Forza 4 had the perfect solution with Public User Created Lobbies, but its has to be matchmaking nowadays. Replacing something perfect with matchmaking is as if the car industry had this new idea: It’s 2015. Automobiles have to change… Ladies and Gentlemen we present you the car of the future! It’s driven by three rectangular wheels.
A competitive product named Project CARS received User Created Lobbies with a patch, because people demanded it. There’s nothing like being able to chose the game you want to join and even better: Creating your own public games. Players will automatically drive clean in your lobby. I couldn’t care less about matchmaking. I never would have thought that I’ll play Project CARS regularly after Forza 6 came out, but the online experience is so much better in this extremely bugged game, not to mention the Force Feedback.
Maybe I should have called this tread “Bring Back User Created Lobbies”, but sadly T10 seems to have no interest in this topic. So I had this other idea, which is at least easy to put into action and seemed not to much to ask for.
But t10 has an interest in locking thread that sound remotely like wishlists.
One other possible solution might be to rotate each class in multiplayer to a ghost for a week at a time. Like d class this week is ghost, next week its c class, and so forth.
