Pit stops

Looks like this thread flew totally off the rails… Thought we were talking about pit stops not the realism factor of FM7 or speculated realism factor of FM7 because no one really knows for sure what will be included. I think if you read Lakiboom’s comments it applied to multiplayer only and these options sounded optional. If that’s the case add as many options as you wish. Just don’t force things on people.

As for pit stops, the main thing they were talking about is animated pit stops. I think it would be better to have pit stop options than animations. What if they gave you a quick dialog when your car is taxying where you can set the level of fuel that you want for the number of laps remaining and select tires, etc.?

Quick time events make no sense. You’re not playing The Walking Dead.

The most realistic way to determine pit times is by what options you select. If you want more expansive changes to your car like repairs or setting adjustments during pits, expect your time to be longer. If all you want is a splash of fuel and new tires, it should be quick. When you pit, you should get a quick dialog box with things to quickly toggle for what you want such as change tires, level of fuel that you want, repair or not, reset something or other.

It’s not about features for able bodied people even though their comment was a little overly PC… Quicktime events are pretty hokey and really shouldn’t be needed in a Forza game.

Give us pit options before any of this business.

Such a simple solution you get prize money so just pay your pit crew the better the pit crew the more it will cost you per race. So we have D ranked pit to A ranked pit crews. Or even F to A, Pit crew F being the slowest and chepest to Pit crew A being the Fastest and most expensive.
Lose the race or dont place and you could finfd your self out of pocket for being a tight wad and using a cheaper Pit crew.

Honestly that’s a little much. The only real damage or breakdown conditions I would expect to ever be in the game would be as a result of the players actions on the track. Abuse your car and expect parts to fail Dirt Rally style. Requiring the player to go in and check upgrade parts and setups for reliability issues is a level of unnecessary detail that I can’t see them ever using. Forza Motorsport is first and foremost an accessible game model with just enough realism to portray the race world in a somewhat accurate way.

I can respect that, it probably is more than the average player would want to take on.

Not wanting to side with any point of view specifically I’d only make one observation.

Forza Motorsport (and by extension, Turn 10) haven’t changed their basic philosophy since FM first appeared. It’s has always been a game focused on racing a wide range of cars without much in the way of FIA rules and regulations. In truth, that’s why most of us loved the game and still play to this day and why we still frequent these forums. The series has been highly successful because of the way in which T10 blend motor racing with accessibility, not despite it.

When you look at the sales figures for games like PC, T10 would be beyond crazy to move in that direction as would anybody that expects them to.

A game can’t be all things to all people.

I play it because I really do not want to give in and buy another game console to play Gran Turismo and more games. When I play I can get stuck playing for hours and that means less time for other stuff. I like Forza, but as a long time Forza player they really should step it up on the Motorsport side. They already have the established fan base, sooner or later they will want a deeper and rich experience like some of us older fans have been wanting. Have you seen LeMans: Racing is Everything? Very good documentary that made me excited for a race that I knew what happened a few years ago, we need some of that drama in the game. Think about it, think about how dynamic the race teams on their strategy during a race. Either from rain showing up or a pace car bringing everyone closer while debris gets taken off the track. Or you and your friends play an enduro as a team- one drives, others do pitstop work and have access to telemetry and they switch drivers after a stint. They can easily keep the driving assists for the people while going more of an authentic motorsport feel. Side note GT Sport pitstop animation, from one of.the past posts, looks super nice and it’s ironic if they do not have pitstop animation while saying they are trying to immerse the player.

Not sure they’d go with a per race fee for pit crews. I could see them implementing pit crew mod cards that could be used in single player.

As long as they fix the crashing issue when pitting I will be happy as can then turn Full damage on, at the moment entering the pit lane with a running car that just has some minor scrapes can result in a broken car on pit exit, Worst I have had was a Nass car entering pit lane, I got a bit off line just before the the game took control as the the game took control of the car I watched it flip and roll down pit lane as much as you can see that is. Had to reset the race as car was totaled no power pulled left ect after this happened twice I now turn off Full damage for any race that will need a pit stop.

Gran Turismo Sport Pitstop are very good this time !

I really hope that Forza, after 7 games will have it …

Gran Turismo Sport allows you to change tires and other parts on the car during pit!!! That looks epic!
The strategy involved in that would be amazing on longer races.

Please T10, i want this too!!!

Thats what I’m talking about. Just imagine when rain starts to come, do you risk staying on slicks hoping the rain will pass or go switch to rain tires and then what about the racers that are right behind you. Depsite my previous post if GT Sport is good then that might be get me looking for a PS4 Pro haha. Not starting Forza hate, just looking for a more deeper experience and plus competition is always good.

Dude this was done in the 1990’s already on most sim games on the N64, one of my favs to play was the F1 gran prix game and you had to make decisions like this and sometimes it was forced upon you and you had to deal with the condition and win the race

OMG!
As long as the stupid (bandaid) billboard over the pit stop is gone. What a nightmare.

I would love to have spotting laps as well

i just seen a youtube video by AR12gameing of fm7 gameplay. he was driving the radical around sonoma and the pit stops are the same as fm6…

I noticed this as well, just because Turn10 showed us a rendered clip of a crew running to a car doesn’t mean we are getting a simulated pitcrew.
Wait till the final product, but don’t get your hopes up to much…

i still would like to have a working pitcrew. an empty pit in a pre-real racing sim in 2017 at the age of dx 12? if you ask this question for yourself in an intensive race with 23 other cars, good phsyics, dynamic weather, intensive fights and duels and you gotta turn into the pit to get some fuel and change your tires and then you see an empty pit… for me if ithis isn’t funny, it just destroys all the atmosphere that’s going on on the track… even when the evolution of FM goes further with FM7.

oh no, i just read this in another post about the features of FM7:

  • Pitting: not animated, single tire compound

so for me personally that are really 2 reasons to think about to buy the game new… i always bought every Fozra-game new, except FH 1 and FH 3 (didn’t have time to play FH 3 and would prefer a new Project Gotham Racing)… but first there’s no one working in the pit when i drive into the pit lane… that destroys all the atmosphere and immersion on the track… the next point is that before or after a race a lotta people walking/standing around in the pit since FM5 but when i drive into the pit lane there’s no one… that disturbs me and i ask myself every time: “how does this fit?” the next point is that T10 was lying to me with the first pre rendered trailer where i could see the Porsche 919 Hybrid coming into the pit and a pitcrew was working on the car… and that’s was just everyone publisher/developer does and what i hate: lying with trailers for marketing. the last point for my critics on this is the single tire compund… i still wonder how this will work with the dynamic weather?

i’m sorry but i’m real pissed off by T10 atm because i’ve the feeling they’ll only hear their community if there’s a shitstorm… a animated pitcrew and letters on tires was my greatest wishes to improve FM since FM2 and i posted it here since then… and now there’s none of these simple 2 features in the game that destroys the atmosphere for me and this at the age of dx12-gfx… personally i’m very disappointed about that. they prefer to design unrealistic moving car parts… seems to be a bad joke for me. what’s wrong, T10? please focus on important details, not on jokes.
