[PC] What NVidia Settings do you use

Hey guys,

just wanted to ask you what Settings you use in the Control Panel when playing FM7 on Win10.

  1. When i play non-HDR games i use RGB / Full / 8bit and put the black levels on my TV (LG B7) on “high”, so darker areas dont get crushed.

  2. Playing HDR games i found out that its best to leave black levels in TV on “low” and put the Nvidia Settings in YCbCr422 / Limited / 12bit (although the panel is 10bit, so i guess does not matter if 10 or 12 here)

  3. Also tried RGB / Limited but it seems a bit worse than 2) if you have a sensitive eye.

When i first got FM7 i played it in HDR mode with RGB Full and that totally fu**ed with the contrast and lighting. The colors did pop but the image was just off completely.

I also found out that, at least on my TV, when i play in 2), that its best to reduce the HDR brightness in the game (second slider) to ca 20%. Default its on 50%, but i find that the highlights are a bit overblown that way.

Whats your experience with the settings and what works best for you?

Cheers

Well i also have a lg oled and have sussed out a great setting, firstly i have HDR enabled in windows always using the vivid setting which brightens enough to not look dull but any way i 1st let application decide hdr colours which is 10bit ycbcr limited but then colours look off with a purple tinge to them so then i choose nvidia panel settings and set to rgb full 12 bit and hit apply and voila perfect balance of whites and colouring but if you look at nvidia panel you see where it should say 12bit its blank in that box as 12 bit full rgb isnt meant to be supported but it works. Onto forza settings i use 4k res, ultra dynamic optimizations except for anastropic i set to 16x mssa to 8 and leave rest on dynamic, hdr brightness i have around 60% and use pc game hdr mode i.e change icon in settings on tv to pc which disables any tv wizardry and runs smooth as silk only menu and loading is a bit laggy but that because i force vsync 60 fps menus dont run at 60fps something that they need to fix but have found gameplay no problem and can say micro stutter is caused by running on normal hdd drives since using a nvme ssd no micro stutter as it can keep up with data loading into memory better. Im having great racing now i also fixed forzathon not registering any events easy 1 allow ms telemtry service to run bad but but the only way it will work if i missed any info drop a reply and will answer further if needed happy gaming!

Interesting that you use RGB Full in HDR and HDR brightness in game 60%. What about the first slider? The normal brightness ingame.
I found that RGB Full crushes my image too much, i loose detail in the darker areas and the highlights like whiteer clouds look a bit overblown. I can recover the lost detail in the darker areas when i move the brightness slider of the game, but it looks more washed out plus overblown lol.
I read somewhere that HDMI 2.0 cant produce RGB Full, that will come with HDMI 2.1.
Anyways, i’ll give it a shot again with RGB Full.
Other TV & gaming enthusiasts i spoke with all recommended YCbCr Limited 10bit for HDR in general when using HDMI 2.0.

Well as it says regarding 1st slider adjust till barely see the 1 in the box so thats the best setting, and black levels need to be set on tv to high or auto, rgb full gets rid of the washy limited colour setting for me just a matter of adjust brightness and yes hdmi 2.1 will makes for higher bandwith so will be great when it comes i allready using a 2.1 cable i got from apple ready in hope it comes soon. forza to me with oled hdr allready looks amazing imagine proper full rgb range dolby vision 4k but think we need a game mode on tv for it .anyway maybe its ur calibration settings on tv that not right backlight contrast ect… mine are on 98 oled bk light, contrast 90 ,brightness 59 , colour 74 and like i say make sure tv is in pc mode so no dynamic contrast and stuff, hope you find any info useful.

Thing is, when i put the HDMI port where the PC is plugged in to “PC” then i am stuck with color range “Wide” instead of “Auto”, which i like better than “Wide”.
I use OLED Light and Contrast at 100, Brightness 50, Color 65.
I fiddled with so many settings back and forth. I will try to put in your settings and see how i like it.
At the moment i am very pleased with HDMI Port set to “Game Console”, Black Levels low, rest as i wrote and YCbCr422 12bit.

Ok, RGB Full and Black Levels of TV on “high” is indeed better than RGB Limited//YCbCr422 Limited and Black Levels on “Low”. I will leave it like that.
But i find that putting the HDMI Port on “PC” does not look better because i still dont like the “Wide” Color Range in which the TV is then stuck. I find Auto looks more natural.
Other than that i kept all Settings at default as in the previous text and it looks glorious. As well as kept game brightness at 50% and turned down HDR brightness to 35-40%. I tried your settings too but i found that for my taste the image was to greyish because you have higher TV brightness (59 instead of 50) and higher ingame brightness (60% instead of defaults 50). Maybe try my settings too and try to put your HDMI Port into “Game Console” and see if you like it better. RGB Full Black Levels High is top though. Thanks for that. I had it in RGB Full but the Black Levels on Low, thats why i was not satisfied.
Cheers

Yep i see what u saying but in console mode there is lots more input lag ect… because it enables dynamic contrast and such , u say wide colour gamut? try putting it in extended i have it on mine we get there in end lol but glad u sorted .what gfx card u have? i got 1070

On my end i can turn dynamic contrast completely off in “Game Console” mode.
I dont have “Extended”. Only “Wide” and “Auto” lol. Using OLED55B7V.
Have a 1080 Ti.

extended is only available in pc mode i have same tv but the curved c version so should have same settings firmware but anyway glad u sorted maybe we can race sometime do u play any other race sims only other i play is assetto in vr on rift, bought pcars2 as was suppose to be hdr but they lied so i dont play it plus its crap anyway lol.
