Im having an issue where my frame rate drops from 60fps to around 20fps constantly during a race. This happens after 5 or more online races and the only way to fix it is to quit out of the game and come back into it.
Game mode is disabled and high-performance power mode is set on the pc. My monitoring software shows that the pc isn’t under abnormal load or running hot when this happens either.

I am having the same issue. Race starts out fine at 60 FPS but constantly drops to 30 FPS. If I pause and unpause the game, the frames jump back to 60 FPS but quickly drop back down to 30 FPS. This seems to happen more often when there are a bunch of drivatars on the screen at once. It is less frequent in solo free play. I am playing at 4K but I feel like my hardware should not be the issue.

I am experience exactly what your describing, the game runs at a steady 60fps at 4k ultra for the majority of the time however my GPU usage will drop and it will stay at a steady 30-35 fps at random stages of a race. If i pause and unpause it goes back to 60fps immediately. I just built a brand new pc and this is the only game i have experienced this with.
Is this a known problem or are there any suggestions to what can be done to solve this. Its very frustrating and ruins the gaming experience.

I am having the same problem, but the framerate drops down to 0. It doesnt matter if I drive online or solo mode. At some point in the race the game freezes and after some seconds its stuttering before running fine. This happens multiple times in a race even if I drive alone on track. This is very frustrating when driving in league mode or close races, cause I can´t drive properly. Also I have this issue since the december update . Before I didnt had this problem and the game ran nice and smooth.
Are all of you guys running in 4k? I run at 2k All Ultra, and while I dont have those big frame rate drops, I do occasionally get tiny ones. The game would stutter every 2 - 3 seconds and same as everybody else, it messes with my driving. =(
My monitor is set to 60hz with gsync and i have capped the game at 60fps at 4k and i still get random drops to a steady 30fps during races, i have tried with gsync off, tried reinstalling, switching from HDD to SSD, uncapping frames, v-sync on and off, turning off all unnecessary windows processes, slight overclock on GPU. It almost feels as if the game thinks its going into a cinematic cut scene and it lowers the fps and gpu usage mid race. My temperatures and cpu/gpu usage are within the normal range. The game runs fine at 1440p however it only seems to happen at 4k.
I’m getting the same frame drops every few seconds as well.
What GPU has everyone have? I have a Geforce 1080ti.
I’m wondering if it is a driver issue. It seems like the problem occured after the last driver update from Nvidia.
Prior to that update Forza 7 was running very smoothly for the first time in a long time but it seems that this new driver as caused the old stuttering in framerate and audio to return.
I’m using driver 388.59
It looks like it was driver related in my case.
I downgraded my driver to 388.43 and Forza 7 is now running silky smooth max detail etc.
I hope that info helps you guys.
Running Win10 build 1709
I solved the problem by setting the framerate from “unlimited” to “60fps”.
This works for me, drove several laps on different tracks, no frame drops or freezing anymore.
=)
Hopefully this will help some other people, too.
The framerates are all over the place. Driving down a straight away it will be 150, then 80, then 150, then 120. Whenever a gear changes occurs it seems like stutters also. This is with a 1080ti, NVme drive, 2k 144mhz G-sync monitor, i7-6800k and 64GB DDR4 3200 ram.
I have virtually the same setup as you and I’m getting the same problem with certain driver versions.
388.43 seems to work fine, no stuttering or audio issues. 388.59 caused frame drops every few seconds and audio glitching. The using latest driver released today, 388.71, the framerate was silky smooth, no frame drops at all but the audio glitching was still bad.
Using Asus Xonar D2X PCI Express soundcard.
All other games seem to be running fine.
Can one of you at least look at the task manager when that happens and see what else may be running. Post a screenshot of it. CTRL-ALT-DEL than task manager while it is stuttering.
Here’s funny thing…video settings on high/ultra 1080p, race starts with 60fps, and it stays that way to the finish line, then in the menu fps drops to I dunno 30-40 and stays that ways unless game is restarted
Try disabling your monitoring software. It can cause conflicts. See if that helps.
Any of those programs that are running in your taskbar have the potential to conflict with running programs.
