Good Day to All,
I have just purchased Forza Horizon 3 last week and have made good progress. My question is, will i be able to use solo story mode vehicles online? If so when will this be available to me in the game progression? I am also not able to choose free roam, instead the game puts me in random races online…
Any input is helpful, thank you.

Yes you can use what ever cars you have in your garage on and off line. There are several options available for online play, are you sure you are choosing free roam off the menu and have you unlocked free roam?
Online play, co op and solo play are interchangable in terms of progression, so don’t worry at all about not being able to use your cars. Of course you may always end up with races with restricted categories but there isn’t much you can do about that.
Go to social tile in game for freeroam options.

Thank you all for the help! Yesterday when I got home from work, I played one more race which unlocked the social tab and I was able to gain access to the 3 racing options. Went online with my vehicles and it was magical haha.
My next goal to achieve is to figure out how to use my MIC online with players. I see other players mic’s displaying when I imagine they are speaking but i do not hear any voice audio. Other game audio works fine, the setting option is checked to “yes” for mic. I read online that for windows 10 I needed to “Disable” forza mic in privacy settings but that did not fix this bug… any input would be appreciated, thanks!
